More Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
Thanks for giving us the best newspaper possible!
Jerry and Marlene Bohn, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Would like to thank you for the nice story you wrote on Mom and Dad (Gordon and Clara Diethelm).  We enjoyed it very much, and enjoy read-ing the Gazette every month.  Enclosed is the check, so keep it coming our way. I also found the fishhook in the St. Boni Mackenthun's ad.
George and Eilleen Koehnen, Excelsior, Minnesota

To the Editor:
That was a good story on Gordon and Clara Diethelm with all the kids.  Clara's mother and my mother were sisters.
Vincent Engelhart, Hopkins, Minnesota

To the Editor:
"With God all things are possible."  It was so good to see you, even though it was a sad occasion of your Uncle Don's funeral.  Thanks for all your splendid writings in the Gazette.
Sister Rolaine Diethelm. Shoreview, Minnesota

To the Editor:
We are new to Victoria, and I cannot express the joy I get reading the Gazette.  It is a pleasure to pay for a subscription.
Betty and Alan Mjolsnes, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Enclosed is a $10 check for another year of added enjoyment.  I say again, what a unique publication!  Found the fishhook in the Mackenthun's St. Boni ad on page 21.
Virginia Leivermann, Bloomington, Minnesota

To the Editor:
It looks like the butcher on page 21 in the March paper has some fishy plans after work.  It also looks like Victoria has its own version of Ma and Pa Kettle with 18 kids.  They outdid us with 10.
Kay Meuwissen, Chaska, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Enclosed is my check for $10 for another year of the Gazette.  It's a very good paper.  I do like the family write-ups each month and I also look for the fishhook.  Thanks.
Barb Johnson, Sacred Heart, Minnesota

To the Editor:
During the past 12 years, I have often been asked, "How many children are served at Mount Olivet Rolling Acres?"
Generally the questions come from people who remember that Rolling Acres in Victoria served 66 children in our residential school in the 1970's.  Today we serve only three children under 19 in long-term residential services.  However, we serve more than 200 children and 400 adults every year in other programs.
During the last 30 years, an increasing emphasis has been placed on providing in-home help to families so children with a disability can remain in a family setting, whether that be the biological family, relatives, or a foster family.  When that is not possible, the "system" allows funding for out-of-home placement in corporate foster homes like the 14 community homes we have developed during the past 10 years.
So the answer to how many child-ren we serve is, "Many."  However, we do it differently today by first trying to keep families intact by providing in-home supports, short-term respite care, and crisis services.  Last year we pro-vided such supports, care, and services to more than 203 children.  We expect to increase this number with the expan-sion of respite and temporary care on our campus in Victoria.
Wayne Larson, Executive Director
Rolling Acres, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Thanks for the great job you do by getting the Gazette to us each month.  You are an asset to the community.  Victoria wouldn't be the same without the Gazette.  I found the fishhook in the Mackenthun's St. Boni ad on page 21.
Jean Bongard, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
I missed the January and February issues of the Gazette by quite a bit.  Getting back into the swing of things at school and home has been challenging.  Can you please print this letter of thanks in the next Gazette?
Thanks to the many friends, rela-tives, and neighbors for gifts extended to our mother, Celeste, during her final days at the Victoria Care Center and at her home.  The gift of time and good-byes meant much to her and to our family.  Thanks to the Victoria Fire Department for the many times you were called for her aid.  The food brought to the funeral luncheon and the food made by the Victoria women under Marge Robling, as well as gifts brought to the house, were greatly ap-preciated.
Thank you also to those staff members and spiritual ministers at St. Victoria Catholic Church for minister-ing to our mother in her final years and in planning the liturgy of her funeral Mass.  Any non-directed money dona-tions were passed on to the local food-shelf.
Sincerely,
The family of Celeste Aretz, Victoria, Minnesota
