Amazing article on The Blessing House.  Love that place!

To the Editor:

In 1853 my family chose this area to settle, and some of them were instrumental in establishing the St. Victoria Catholic Church, along with other churches in the area.

We are planning a family reunion for the entire line of descendants next year on the site of the original homestead, which is located at the Minnetonka Regional Park.  We are very excited and have been in contact with Three Rivers Park to schedule it.  The reunion itself will be held at Gale Farms, some five minutes down the road from the old farmstead.  The date is Saturday, June 16th, 2018.

We would like to have a large attendance and have made what we believe to be a rather large attempt to contact as many of the family as possible, but since it has been over 150 years since it was settled, it has proven to be difficult.

We have also created a web page to help all of those who might be interested or know someone from the family who might be interested to attend.  I would greatly  appreciate you getting a notice published or an article written.  The website is https://schmid1848.shutterfly.com.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Love the picture in the October Gazette.  You do such a great  job.  So nice to see you at Nickle Dickle Day.

To the Editor:

Our granddaughter, Christine Piwnica of Victoria, who is a senior at Bethel University, made history at the MIAC, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships this past weekend,.

The Bethel senior woman's golfer became Bethel's first-ever four time MIAC All-Conference honoree. Christine, who grew up playing the Deer Run Golf Course, finished with a 54-hole best score of 227 during the three day tournament, composed of 33 pars and 6 birdies, while also going 21 under par on the 15 par fives throughout the weekend.

To the Editor:

It was nice of you to come to Regarding Dentistry's ribbon cutting ceremony in September.  I'm proud of what Dr. Fiedler and Dr. Menser have done to continue the vision of DMA Dentistry and take it to a new level for the patients and staff in their Waconia and Victoria locations.  Thank you for kind words and great photos in the October Gazette.

Kind Regards, Dave Dungey, Bloomington, Minnesota

To the Editor:

The weeks fly by without me noticing and I just woke up to the reality that I haven't thanked you for your gift of time and attention paid for the splendid front page story in your October issue of the Victoria Gazette.  I continue  to receive comments about how little they knew about me.  The important thing is that few in Victoria can ever say, "I never heard of The Blessing House."  Thanks to your gift, The Blessing House is now officially of Victoria.

         Gail Berger, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

"The Blessing House" story in the October issue of the Gazette was wonderful.  Gail Berger is an amazing woman.  I first met Gail at Island View Country Club in 1973.  I had the pleasure of playing golf with Gail, her late husband, and her three sons.  The sons were exceptional golfers.  Our family will be visiting The Blessing House soon.

My daughter Jill gave me a wonderful book, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, her life's story.  She loved writing and newspapers.  It has been made into a movie.  I think you would really enjoy this book.  Thank you, Sue, for the Victoria Gazette each month.

Your friend, Malcolm Macalpine, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  In the October issue of the Gazette, you had a great picture of the overhead power lines on Stieger Lake Lane.  The City Council is currently considering a project to reconstruct Stieger Lake Lane from City Hall to Hwy 5.  The project includes the addition of approximately 68 on-street parking stalls, sidewalk, and lighting.  That project would also include the undergrounding of the existing overhead utility lines that you photographed, with construction occurring as soon as spring 2018 if approved.  Thanks.

City Manager Laurie Hokkanen, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

I always look forward to reading the Victoria Gazette.  You are an amazing editor!  I'm happy to report that I still have a condo at Fort Myers after the hurricane.

         Alice English, Chanhassen, Minnesota
