To the Editor:

Just a note of thanks for the good writing in your last editorial and the encouragement to grandparents to appreciate the child-like qualities of our grandchildren.  We need the reminder to attempt to see the beauty and awe of this world through their eyes at times, and not just react negatively  when their shortcomings do not measure up to our adult expectations.  I sense that you had that (educational) goal also in mind when writing this beautiful piece as you sat before your keyboard.

Continued blessings on your faithful work for Truth from the unique position and pen that you hold.

To the Editor:

Thanks for the newsy October Gazette.  Mike Wartman's article reminds me of St. Victoria's grade school days.  Before his years there, we had grades 1, 2, and 3 in one classroom, grades 4, 5, and 6 in one classroom, and grades 7 and 8 in one classroom, with the sister teacher as principal and superior of the convent.

When the Hauwillers were at St. Victoria, the sisters came from St. Benedict's Monastery in St. Joseph, MN, until 1948 when 178 sisters came to St. Paul, MN, and became St. Paul's Monastery.

Mike's duck story is good for my funny bone.  We had chickens, ducks, pheasants, pigs, cows, and squirrels on the farm.  No need to go duck hunting.

Greetings and God's peace to everyone.  I'd love to see more letters to the editor from people who could write a little about the 1940's up to Mike's time.

To the Editor:

Hi, Mom.  Who knew I'd raise a little farmer?  Gunnar has been playing with the big combine you gave him every day.  He said he'd play outside in the dirt with it, but he's afraid of the roosters.  They chase him and they chase me.  They're as big as turkeys.  I told Chris they had to go today!  I don't care if we just shoot 'em and bury 'em.  Then we wouldn't have to go through the cleaning mess for just two birds.  Maybe a neighbor wants them.

         Love you and miss you.

To the Editor:

The Halloween Kids Party was another successful event for our community.  Once again we experienced fantastic weather, sunshine, and even a bald eagle for the 500-plus guests to Discover Victoria during the Halloween Kids Party on Saturday, October 25th.  This is the fourth year that the event has been cosponsored by the Victoria Business Association and the Victoria Lions Club.  We thank all the volunteers who contributed to the success of this event.

To the Editor:

Hi. Sue.  Still enjoying the Gazette.  What a great job you do with it.  Thought you might enjoy an article I found, especially this season:

"Being a good Christian is like being a pumpkin.  God lifts you up, takes you in, washes all the dirt off of you.  He opens you up, touches you deep inside, and scoops out all the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see."
