The Victoria GAZETTE

November 2013

To the Editor:

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for all my friends and family who made my 80th birthday so special.  I will hold the memory of that day close for all time to come.  And a special thanks to all my children for their contributions to make the day so special.

         Nancy Sohns

         Waconia, formerly Victoria, Mn

To the Editor:

Hello.  I am a student at Hamline University in St. Paul.  I am currently in a journalism class and I was wondering if there was any way I could write articles for your Gazette.  Since I am from Victoria, I thought this would be a great way to get more involved in my community.  I am open to any type of article for writing.

To the Editor:

I was hoping we could put a small blurb in the paper about two Girl Scouts Lauren Dale and Andrea Peters who needed a project in order to earn their Silver Award.  These girls believed that every child should have the chance to dress up for Halloween.  Knowing that some families can't afford to spend their money on Halloween costumes, the girls collected over 100 gently used costumes.  On October 5th the girls set up a tent next to Bountiful Basket Food Shelf garden where they distributed costumes to our customers who were very grateful.

To the Editor:

I'm a little early but here is our ad for the November issue.  We'd also like to do a similar ad for the January issue.

News about me -- my last day at Southwest Christian High School is Friday.  It's been a pleasure to work with you and sure have enjoyed the community feel of your newspaper.  My husband and I are expecting a baby any day so I get to be a stay-at-home mom for a while.  SWCHS will be hiring a new Admissions Director soon.  Would you mind shooting out an email and introducing yourself to the new director sometime?  Thanks, Sue.  Blessings to you.

To the Editor:

Bill and I want to thank you for turning us into temporary celebrities due to the wonderful story in the Victoria Gazette last month.  We believe everyone in Victoria and elsewhere wisely subscribes to your amazing newspaper.  We've been stopped everywhere by your many readers telling us how much they enjoyed your headline story.

It's been fun receiving this unexpected window of becoming "celebrities."

We believe that you, Sue, are the awesome one -- printing the Victoria Gazette each month, producing beautiful music in the church and elsewhere, keeping us involved in your life and that of your children, grandchildren, and our Victoria families through the many fascinating stories written in your Victoria Gazette.

Thank you for all you do towards keeping Victoria residents one big loving family.

         Fondly,

         Bea and Bill Beddor

         Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

The premier local Gala, "The Enriching Lives Through Education Gala," is going to be a blast.  Where else in your life do you get to dress-to-impress, shop for great deals with a glass of wine in your hand, with a jazz trio playing in the background, enjoy a wonderful meal with a table of friends, cry at stories of overcoming heartbreaking hardship, and laugh at the silliness of Heads and Tails games!  And then drag yourself to the after party at Axel's in Chanhassen!

It's all at the magnificent Hazeltine National Golf club, and all the while benefitting an amazing local organization that helps local kids realize their full potential:  The SouthWest Metro Educational Cooperative.  And all for just $65 a person.  Please let me know if you're coming so I can make sure you're at one of my tables.

         Hope to see you there.

         Laurie Gauer, Director

         SWME Foundation board
