Duck Dynasty.  I bagged this large mallard on a federal waterfowl production slough  in mid October, north and west of Hutchinson.  He and his brother decoyed in at sun-up.  His brother managed to escape unharmed.  Roast duck for supper.  Mmmmm, good.

Welcome to Victoria.  The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Midwest Dental (1405 - 78th Street) in Victoria on Thursday, October 24th, at 11:30 a.m. to welcome Dr. Matthew Green to the practice.  Dr. Green has taken over as dentist after Dr. Bruce Baker retired earlier this year.

Saint Joseph Rake-a-Thon.  Many students from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Waconia were raking in Victoria this fall as part of their annual Service Marathon.  Pictured above, they are raking at the home of Mary Moore on Victoria Circle.  The rake-a-thon has become a tradition of giving back to the community, "Celebrating service with the gifts of our hearts and hands."  Generous donors across the entire state pledge funds to support the school while students and families come together to serve the community by raking yards in October.  These children arrived by school bus on November 1st, All Saints Day.

I am a parent at St. Joseph School.  We raked several yards in Waconia, St. Boni, and Victoria.  We had staff, teachers, parents, and students having a lot of fun together while raking yards.  The kids really worked hard.

Brussel Sprouts on a Basket.  How many people know how brussel sprouts are grown?  How many people have purchased brussel sprouts on a stem and baked them on the stem?  They were delicious.  Thank you also, Joe and Susan Boatman of White Bear Lake, for your outstanding barbecued ribs and for emailing the photo.

At the Victoria Fire Department Open House.  This is a shot I took of the Victoria Fire Department doing a demo of putting out a car fire at their Open House on October 5th.  The firefighters are Jacob Servais, left, and Brian Pyne.  The car was parked roughly parallel with Hwy 5 so I was facing north, with the Fire Station to my left and the wetlands to my right.  You can see the canopy of the Marathon Gas Station in the background to help orient you.  I've lived in the Laketown neighborhood of Victoria since 2006.
