Victoria Moments Continued

Mary Neubarth has been working for KleinBank for 35 years.  When she first joined Klein banking here in Victoria, the bank was known as the Victoria State Bank and it was located on Main Street Victoria, where Drs. Dungey and Menser office today.

Said Mary, “That’s when Dan Klein and Wayne Neubarth tellered and did loans and everything.”    Wayne is Mary’s husband.  What was their title?  “Boss,” laughed quick witted Mary.  Others working at the old bank in 1974 included Ruth [Schenten] Kroening and Marion Nieland.  The bank had hauled in a mobile trailer and attached it to the south side of the brick building on Main Street to accommodate the offices of Dan and Wayne.

The “new” bank opened for business in its current location in 1979 when Mary worked two days a week, “part time and full time and whenever they needed me.”

How did Mary come to learn the banking business?  “I went to Mankato Commercial College,” she said.  “I had banking experience before I came to Victoria.  I started in LeSueur at Valley National Bank then went to Green Isle and then to Victoria.”

Some of Mary’s family members were able to be part of the 35-year celebration.  She is pictured with son Jason Neubarth and his daughter Elizabeth, 4.  Jason’s other children are Billy, 14, and Charlie, 11.  He is married to Stacy and they live in Hamburg.

Son Eric Neubarth is married to Kim.  Their children are Hunter, 4, and Haley, 2, and they live in Norwood Young America.

Daughter Kim and her husband Steve Ische live in Victotria and their children are Ryan, 19, Chad, 17, and Megan 14.

Thank you, Mary, for always being kind and helpful -- and fun -- at KleinBank in Victoria.

Operation Christmas Child.  Girl Scout Troop #10111, along with Bob and Larry from Veggie Tales, acted out skits to help introduce Operation Christmas Child at Westwood Community Church, Chanhassen.  Kate Shiffer, who is a member of Westwood, jumped on the bandwagon and volunteered her troop to help out.  Kate’s responsibility included organizing the skits, teaching the girls their lines, and coordinating the day’s events.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations worldwide through simple gift-filled boxes and the Good News of God’s love.  The girls demonstrated to hundreds of kids how to fill the shoebox with gifts to delight a child, gifts such as school supplies, toys, hygiene items, and candy.

Fire’s First Loss.  Fullback Jay Roane did his best to keep the Fire in the game Wednesday, October 14th, with his 195 yards rushing and two touchdowns, but Belle Plaine won in the end 40-25.  The game was closer than the score indicated with Belle Plaine gaining a total of 429 yards, and Holy Family closely following with 406 total yards.  In the end, the turnovers by the Fire proved too much to overcome.
