Rest in Peace, Father Elstan. The top photo is from the funeral Mass on Thursday, May 15th, at the St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. It was my view from the piano bench. The bottom photo is at my kitchen counter, where Father Elstan acquired his own seat for some time. Daughter Jenny drove five hours to Victoria in order to attend the funeral of someone she’d accidentally call “Grandpa.” That’s Father Bernardine Hahn, OFM, who flew all the way from St. Louis, Missouri, to attend the funeral of his longtime priest friend and brother friar. On the left is my husband Allan, who also loved the dear Father Elstan Coghill. —Editor Sue

Wings Invitational Champs. The CC United soccer team took first place in the Wings Tournament. They defeated Burnsville 12-0, White Bear Lake 7-1, North Suburban 2-1, and North Suburban again for the championship 3-1. Happy 60th, Willy and Lois. An Open House will be held in honor of Wilmer and Lois Molnau’s 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 8th, 2008, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4th and Oak, in Chaska. This Open House is being hosted by their children and grandchildren.

Little Bell Ringers. One of the groups at the St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria is made up of children who ring bells according to the color of the bells they are holding and the color flashcard that Director Jamie Moore is showing them, one after the other until an entire hymn has been performed.

A Pair of Woodies. Some ducks do nest in trees. This pair of “woodies” was busy shopping for a rental in our front yard on Pierson Lake here by Victoria in early May. We have about a 40% to 60% occupancy rate out of about two dozen boxes in our neighborhood.
