Digger’s Digs In..Rick Peterson is the General Manager at Digger’s Polaris in Victoria. The place is prominent on Hwy 5, located in the former Nature’s Bounty ski factory site. It’s been totally refurbished inside and outside, looking pretty nice near the Welcome to Victoria monument. Doors to Digger’s were officially opened in Victoria on March 23rd, 2008. Its products are Polaris (ATV’s, Rangers, and Snowmobiles) and Victory Motorcycles. They also sell Monterey Boats and Harris Pontoons. Said Rick, “This is a still a place in progress ... The traffic on Hwy 5 is phenomenal.” Phenomenal traffic has double meaning on Hwy 5 in Victoria. In any case, there’s a second Digger’s location in Prior Lake. Welcome, Digger’s, to the City of Lakes and Parks. ~S.O.
Casey at the Bat. On Wednesday, April 30th, Casey Kleinsteuber (a second grader in Mrs. Haas’ class at Victoria Elementary School) threw out the Ceremonial First Pitch at the Minnesota Twins game vs. Chicago White Sox. Casey threw a 60’ 6” strike to T.C. T.C. ran out to the mound and carried Casey off the field. T.C. is the mascot’s name. Casey is a huge fan of the Twins, in part because his father and grandfather are, but also for his love for baseball. I have bid on countless first pitch chances at Chamber fundraising events. I met an individual in the marketing/ticketing sales department back in December of 2007. I told him that I wanted to give my son an unforgettable birthday present. The opportunity was there for a day game during the school year that would work, but that there may be other individuals throwing out the pitch. Everything came together and Casey had a once in a lifetime 8th birthday. The story is not that spectacular but the pictures are. Chaz and Dana Kleinsteuber Victoria, Minnesota
New Reserve Members. Sheriff Bud Olson is proud to welcome two new volunteers to the Reserve Unit. Reserve Deputies Michael Murphy and Leonard Murphy (no relation) were sworn in as the newest Reserve Deputies for the Carver County Sheriff’s Office on April 28th. The Reserves are an exceptional group of men and women over the age of 18 who have an interest in law enforcement related activities and in helping within their community. Some may go into the law enforcement field, while others participate because of the unique excitement and challenge the experience offers. As a citizen you will see our Reserve Deputies throughout the county as they assist with water patrol, snowmobile patrol, county and city events, the Carver County Fair, community relations presentations, dances, and many other areas. The Carver County Reserves meet for training every month and also work side by side with full time Deputies, assisting them with many tasks. For more information on the Carver County Reserve program, contact me at 952-361-1206. The Carver County Reserves are currently accepting applications. Lieutenant David M. Williams Carver County Sheriff’s office Carver County, Minnesota
