To the Editor:

Hello, Sue.  Yes, indeed, I am related to the Stiegers for whom the lake in Victoria was named.  (I can’t recall whether Karl or Franz Stieger was my great grandfather.)  You may be delighted to know that I have a Victoria Gazette clipping taped on my office door.  It describes how Elizabeth Diethelm and I -- and you -- have tried our best to promote the correct spelling and pronounciation of Stieger (rhymes with eager).  You may also be interested in knowing that a good friend of mine is a former city administrator for the City of Victoria -- Bill Goff.  Small world, huh?

To the Editor:

Dick and Donna Plocher live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  They had been members of the Lake Auburn Moravian Church many years ago.  Dick’s folks were Ralph and Ruth Plocher.  I called them.  The flood did not damage their home and they are packing up to visit their son for Father’s Day as they have no potable water and the sewer is not working but they have power and natural gas.  As you have seen on TV, things are extremely bad in Cedar Rapids.  They appreciated my call and send their greetings.

To the Editor:

My new address is Buffalo.  I am very glad I can still get the Gazette.  After living in Victoria for over 50 years, it is great to keep up with what is going on.  I will miss the area.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

I wanted to send you a news release on the Carver-Scott Master Gardener’s Garden Tour on Saturday, July 12th.  It’s a drive-it-yourself tour that runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Master Gardeners will be present at each of the five residential garden sites to answer questions.

Since I am a resident of Victoria and know how much people love to garden here, I thought our residents might like to know about these tours.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

Your write-up and pictures on Highway 5 in the June issue were so well done.  If I were a lobbyist, your newspaper would be my material for a very valid argument for highway improvement.  But then, why do we subscribe to the Victoria Gazette but to read and view top notch materials in every issue.  You da gal, Sue.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Did you get my messages?  Melissa and I both called and left messages to get pricing.  I couldn’t find the information on your website.  A group from our staff is running a July special and wanted to put it in the Gazette.  However, we didn’t hear anything so they chose other publications.  They really wanted to advertise in the Gazette.  Could you let us know where we could get pricing for our future promotions?  Thanks.

To the Editor:

I like how you fixed up my ad and really appreciate it.  Good Gazette this month.  Well, they all are good but especially like your June issue.  Thanks again.

To the Editor:

To answer your question, Rich Gannon just moved to Northern Victoria and Mark Eiden is from Southern Victoria.  I live in Victoria over by Holy Family Catholic High School.  I call that Central Victoria.  Then there is Downtown Victoria.  North Victoria reaches from Hwy 5 to Hwy 7.  West Victoria is just over the bridge west of Downtown Victoria on Hwy 5 along with the new development west of the Deer Run Golf Course.  South Victoria is from County Road 18 to County Road 10.
