To the Editor:

Enclosed is my check for your great newspaper.  Must see if we can get it forwarded from January to April.  So good to hear all that is happening in cold Victoria while we are in warm Florida.

Would like to give a big compliment to Ethel Ausink on her wonderful insightful articles in the Gazette each month.  Always enlightening.

We very much enjoyed the Hartman story in your April issue.  We were not aware of Jeff’s involvement building golf courses.  Great article.  Keep up the good work.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I just emailed my column to you.  Hope it arrived.  I tried to respond to your email and it wouldn’t send.  Thank you for what you do.  It’s very important to the unique culture of Victoria.  Best.

To the Editor:

Thank you for covering the Celiac Walk in the June Gazette.  The page looked great.  I must have goofed in communication because in that one photo the names don’t match the guests doing the signing/autographing.  Last year there was a former Olympian hockey player and this year we had Heath who is a Minnesota Viking.

I just made a cheesecake that is gluten free and diary free.  Have you ever made one?  I am using tofu cream cheese, which is very possibly better than regular cream cheese.  Sleep tight

To the Editor:

Ka-boom!  It’s firecracker season!  At home we’d put firecrackers in the top rod of the washline pole; it got rid of wasp nests pretty good.  Once at Steamboat Days at Carver, a wasp went into my pop can and I was stung on the inside of my bottom lip.  It swelled like a hotdog bun and I had a hard time talking.  It took a week to get the swelling down and sometimes I drooled like a baby.

Mom was stung 30 times once when she was weeding and moving some flowers and came across an in-ground nest.  She was getting sick and went to the doc right away to get medication.  Then she poured gas in the hole and set the ground nest on fire.  Wasps are attracted to perfume, hairspray, and beer and pop.  They’re attracted to the sugar in beer and pop.

This “old” person doesn’t do firecrackers anymore, but I’ll watch them from the 5th floor balcony windows here.  I can see Valleyfair and Mystic Lake fireworks.  Yes, I lit a few firecrackers too but never got hurt.  Now I’m turning 43 with gray hair and crows feet coming in.  I noticed red hair at the roots that I never had before, which is more so on Mom’s side.  All the grannies at Talheim say it’s tough getting old, that getting old is for the birds.

I found the fishhook on page 24 on the flower petal of the Waterbrooke ad.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  My name is Katie Thiede and I was looking through the Victoria Gazette and I found the fishhook.  I found it on page 24 on the flower of the Waterbrooke ad.  I hope I’m the early minnow.  Have a great day.

To the Editor:

I was thrilled to find your fishhook on page 24 in the Waterbrooke Fellowship ad in the June issue of the Gazette.  It is in the petal of the daisy.  I found it on my first time through the paper.  We spend our winters in Florida and miss the Gazette while we are away.  I read it first thing this morning with my cereal and coffee.  Now I feel like I am home!  Blessings.

Special thanks to our family and friends in helping us celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary.  What a wonderful day we had.  Your presence and gifts were very much appreciated.
