Victoria Gazette-Hook Line & Sinker

Is it on your calendar? It's on mine. The Victoria Fishing Contest is always on my calendar. It's always on Super Bowl Sunday. It's always on Stieger Lake. It's always from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. It's always sponsored by the Victoria Fire Department. There are always prizes and fish and ice and good hot food.

The Fishing Contest this year is on Sunday, February 1st. Some years the weather is sunny and bright but very cold. Some years it's sunny and bright and mild. Some years it's cloudy and windy and the ice is mushy. We'll soon see what the New Year Brings.

At this time the New Year brings $10 to Mike Johnson of Victoria. He found the fishhook wrapped around the back light of my car on page 40 in the December issue of the Gazette and I pulled his name out of the minnow bucket. Congratulations, Mike.
