To the Editor:

If you attended the Minneapolis Boat Show January 30th to February 2nd, and are thinking about buying a new boat or personal watercraft, there are some things you can do to make it less likely that you will be spreading aquatic invasive species.  Buying an "AIS friendly watercraft" today could provide a better resale value later.

Some configurations of boats and trailers make it difficult to remove aquatic plants before leaving a landing.  Carpeted bunks on the trailers are harder to clear than rollers.  If your bunks are still wet when you are going to launch the next time, you may be transporting live zebra mussel veligers.  Look to make sure the trailer will quickly drain all of the water from any unsealed structural components.

Boats could be designed to drain all the water when they are on a trailer.  But, for example, wakeboard boats with inboard ballast tanks do not drain completely when the tanks are pumped out.  Several gallons of water remain in each tank, and the next lake will get the water that remains.

Please make responsible choices for the trailers and boats you buy.  Thank you  for helping to protect our Minnesota public waters.

To the Editor:

Just a note to say a sincere Thank You for all the fine work you do with the Victoria Gazette and with your music ministry.  You must be a miracle woman.  How do you accomplish all of this!  The City of Victoria is blessed to have you publish your paper.  You unite people in marvelous ways.  Again this year I was blessed to be at the inspiring Christmas Concert at St. Victoria, with your piano playing, etc.  Cheers to you with a prayer that all continues well.

         Gratefully,

To the Editor:

Yes, I would like to have The Harbinger.  Judging from your enthusiasm, it must be a fascinating book.

Have you seen the statement of Cardinal George?  "I expect to die in bed, my successor in prison, his successor to be martyred in the public square, and his successor to pick up the pieces."

In the meantime, Germany is spending $67 billion annually to raise their birth rate.  Putin is urging Russian couples to have at least three children, and Hungary has constitutionally outlawed abortion.  The popular press will never report these developments.

"For the triumph of evil, it is sufficient that good men do nothing," Edmund Burke tells us.  I hope our citizens remember that in the November voting.

Thanks again for all your kindness.

To the Editor:

As you may have heard or read, Target learned in mid December that criminals forced their way into our system and took guest information, including debit and credit card data.

In mid January we learned that additional information, including name, mailing address, phone number or email address, was also taken.  I am writing to make you aware that your name, mailing address, phone number or email address may have been taken during the intrusion.

I am truly sorry this incident occurred and sincerely regret any inconvenience it may cause you.  Because we value you as a guest and your trust is important to us, Target is offering one year of free credit monitoring to all Target guests who shopped in U.S. stores.

To guard against possible scams, always be cautious about sharing personal information such as Social Security numbers, passwords, user Ids, and financial account information.

Never share information over the phone, email, or text, even if they claim to be someone you know or do business with.  Instead, ask for a callback number.  Delete texts immediately from numbers or names you don't recognize.  Be wary of emails that ask for money or send you to suspicious websites.  Don't click links within emails you don't recognize.
