"I," said donkey, shaggy and brown, "I carried His mother up hill and down; I carried her safely to Bethlehem town."  "I," said the donkey, shaggy and brown.  So goes part of The Friendly Beasts, a traditional Christmas carol which is probably also familiar to you.

In the November issue of the Gazette, the shaggy brown donkey carried a fishhook wrapped around his nose.  Poor thing.  Not very many of you found it there on page 26 along with the column, "Resisting a Rest" by Pastor Kevin Dibbley.  But enough of you did to make this a worthy drawing.  When I dipped into the minnow bucket, I pulled out Bonnie Wagener of Waconia.  Congratulations, Bonnie.  Your $10 prize will be in the mail before longly.

There's another fishhook hidden in this issue of the Gazette.  As usual, I offer no clues.  If you find it and wish to be part of this monthly drawing, drop a line to Sue@VictoriaGazette.com telling of its location or use Box 387, Victoria, MN 55386 and sinker in the mail.

After we sing about the donkey shaggy and brown, the cow all white and red, the sheep with curly horn, the dove from the rafters high, and the camel yellow and black, The Friendly Beasts concludes:  "Thus every beast by some good spell in the stable dark was glad to tell Of the gift he gave Emmanuel, The gift he gave Emmanuel."
