Grand Opening of the Lions Pavilon by Sue Orsen, Victoria Gazette.  “The 2018 Lions Tournament Weekend marked the Grand Opening of the new Lions Pavilion located at Lions Park in Victoria.  There was not a ribbon cutting ceremony and there were no speeches.  But there were lots of ooooohs and aaaaahs as residents, visitors, and ballplayers encountered the place for the very first time.”  Click on Front Page.

The Willmar Chain of Lakes by Sue Orsen. Did you know there is a chain of lakes just southwest of Green Lake?  The Chain is being featured in various publications because Willmar Lake was recently added to the state’s list of impaired waters.

Master Water Stewards by Telly Mamayek, MCWD. “The program provides training on how to protect local lakes and creeks from pollution.  Following the training, Stewards put their knowledge into action in their own communities.”

Protecting the Pavilion photos by Al Orsen, Victoria Lions Club. “John Storms of Victoria Repair and his sons Tim and Travis built and installed a steel gate inside the new Lions Pavilion.  The gate is located in the hallway between bathrooms and main assembly area to help keep vandals at bay.”

Tour de Tonka by Elizabeth Howard, MNTKA Community Education. “Tour de Tonka’s bike ride moves through 24 different west metro communities including Victoria and  around some Victoria lakes such as Smithtown Bay, Lake Virginia, and Schutz Lake.

Forgiveness is Foundational by Pastor Kevin Dibbley, Waterbrooke Christian Church. “If you truly love people, you do not treat lightly the words and actions that bring them harm.  We cannot condone what brings another person harm and say that we genuinely love them.”

When in Doubt, Stay Out by Bill Olson, Victoria, MCWD Board of Managers. “While enjoying our abundant water resources can be a fun and relaxing way to get outside and soak in the summer weather, it’s important to practice healthy swimming habits and to take precautions after rainfalls.”

Mini-Schneider Reunion by Steve Jesberg, Minentonka, MN.  . “On a sunny Sunday afternoon, July 22nd, at the new Victoria Lions digs, first cousins and spouses gathered for a mini-reunion.”

Risk and Reward by Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Pro. “I drove my kids crazy with my mantra of Risk and Reward.  The law of nature is Risk and Reward.  It’s reality in a nutshell.  By never taking a risk, it’s pretty tough to get much of a reward.  Golf is a game of Risk and reward.”

The Big White Rental Truck by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent. “In the early spring of this year, my sister Barb casually announced she was selling her house and moving to where her babies and now grandbabies live, tucked into the foothills of the great Rocky Mountains in Larkspur, CO.”

Coot Open in Victoria by Mike Wartman, Former Resident of Victoria “The Dan Coot Schrempp Golf Extravaganza and Golf Scramble Tournament held annually for the past 42 years brings 50 or so golfers with direct and often indirect and skewed and disjointed ties to Victoria and an assault on Victoria’s own Deer Run Golf Course.”

New Social Hot Spot in Victoria by Katie Welch Len, Victoria. “Victoria Burros is a casual social gathering spot for adults, families, and people of all ages.  This new hangout is centered on food, drinks, and activities, to engage any crowd, fresh and new in Victoria.”

Carver County Update by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner. “Congratulations to the Victoria Vics on a great baseball season and best of luck in the playoffs.  Town ball is a wonderful summer pastime for all to enjoy.”

Hello, Victoria Reidents!  by Lion Dave Lura, President Victoria Lions. “Thank you for supporting all of the Victoria Lions events including our Halloween Party, Spaghetti Feed, Fish Fry, Easter Egg Hunt, Spring Fling, and our annual Softball Tournament.”

Building and Installing Pipeline by Sue Orsen. “When visiting our family at Tioga, ND, in July, we were given a tour of pipeline operations in the Tioga construction yard and in the field near Lake Sakakawea.”

Another Crowd for Elvis by Sue Orsen.  “Elvis is known to roam through the crowd and personally greet his fans.  Here he croons with Joyce Burau of Victoria while her non-jealous husband Loane smiles for the editor’s camera.”

Summer Sandwiches by Christie Schlueter, Regular Victoria Visitor. “Summer is fun time and that means faster meals and more time spent outdoors.  Make your meals simpler with these sandwich ideas.  Use the grill to make them outdoors.”

Victoria’s Library Log by Jodi Edstrom, Youth Services Librarian.  Some of the programs include Summer Reading, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, Rock Games and Crafts, Tails for Reading, Minecraft, Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction Book Clubs, Preschool Storytime.
