To the Editor:

         After reading your editorial in the July issue, Sue, we worry about your safety.  The degree of rancor is way out of bounds.  I saw this directly during the campaign last fall.  It's your decision, of course, but I think incidents like yours should be brought to the attention of law enforcement.  There is a sickness alive in Victoria.

To the Editor:

         I read your editorial account of defending the content of your paper, and in my daily meditation book, this was the message:  "Your thoughts are precious to Me because you are My treasure.  I disarm evil thoughts and render them powerless.  Then I help you think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.  Ponder these things while resting in the Peace of My Presence." 

         The scripture passages for that day were:  "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God" (Ephesians 6:17) and "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things" (Philippians 4:8).

         Thank you, Sue, for standing your ground and holding your paper to a higher standard.

         I want to comment on your editorial last month.  It never ceases to amaze me that a few people (like patio guy) seem to think that drawing attention to themselves with bitter and divisive outburst is "cool," that it makes them look smart.  The other, larger percentage of us shake our heads and say, "He should be pitied and prayed for."

To the Editor:

         Reading your July "From the Editor" column, outlining the reprehensible verbal attack you were subject to by "patio guy," my thought was a quote by Albert Einstein:  "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."  Your cool repartee is to be complimented.

         Without doubt, this shameful experience was irritable, irritable.  Patio guy is irritable -- much like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or, in this case, Irritable Behavior Syndrome.  Both are a common disorder that affects the large intestine and being "full of it."  IBS is typically associated with cramping, discomfort, bloating and gas, constipation of the brain, and diarrhea of the mouth.  Some people can control these symptoms by managing stress and a mature lifestyle.  Others, however, still need medication and counseling.

         July's fishhook is on page 6 in the Emerald Crest ad, on the mother's ring finger.

         I took ill but have returned home, hopefully a full recovery.  Our son flew home from Oregon to help out.  Regarding your incident at Floyd's, the security cameras should have this on tape.  You never revealed his name.  If I had been there, he would have been surprised by an 88-year old gut-bobbing him.  You handled the situation like the lady you are.  A guy like him is dangerous.  Hopefully the police have been put on alert.  He should be barred from Floyd's. 

         The Gazette is the voice of Victoria.  It's a great local paper.

         May God grant you always a sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you, a sheltering angel so nothing can harm you, laughter to cheer you, faithful friends near you, and whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.  I enjoy the sayings you place between display ads.  Always enjoy your paper.  The fishhook is on page 5 of the July issue, on the ring finger of the senior person.
