GAZETTE

August 2011

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  What a great feature story about Vic's Bar and Grill.  I have happy memories of celebrating my "Very big Xth Birthday" there several months ago, and Mike and Brenda were incredible hosts.  We're lucky to have Vic's here.

Are you absolutely certain you hid the fishhook in the July issue?  I've searched forward, backward, and even upside down (the paper, not me), but it is just not visible to my Xth-year old eyes.

To the Editor:

Well, now I feel silly.  My husband found the fishhook on page 23 in the little soccer player's bangs.  And his eyes are two years older that mine!  Guess Fred McGraw's name needs to go into the famous minnow bucket.

To the Editor:

How are you?  Did you have a nice Fourth of July?  We did.  Hope all is going well with you.  I saw the article from Nicole in the July.  It was really nice.  Nicole was wondering if you had any extra papers that they could have, like four.  I could pick them up if you had some.  Let me know how much they cost, as well.

To the Editor:

This year's legislative session showed how easily funding for disability services can be put in jeopardy.  The Arc Greater Twin Cities invites people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to meet with elected officials from Senate District 34 at the home of Patricia Lang, 539 Westwood Lane, Chaska, on Monday, August 8th, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This home visit will give local residents an opportunity to share their story and discuss disability-related issues in an informal setting.  Elected officials invited to participate are Senator Julianne Ortman, Representative Ernie Leidiger, and Carver County Commissioner Randy Maluchnik.

The event is free of charge but participants are requested to RSVP by August 5th to denafelper@arcgreatertwincities.org or calling 952-920-0855.

To the Editor:

We would like to thank everyone for another successful blood drive in Victoria in July.  A total of 105 units was donated.  Without all of our volunteers and donors, this would not be possible.  Thanks again to everyone that participated.

To the Editor:

Yesterday at the Lions Tournament, you and I talked briefly about critters in our yards.  A friend of mine saw a Bald Eagle swoop down and pick up a squirrel off Bavaria Road, as it tried to cross it.  In late June, I had a Timber Wolf run in front of my truck for 300 yards before it decided to head for the brush.  This happened on the Shoe Lake Road 25 miles northeast of Grand Marais, MN.

To the Editor:

Greetings from the Carver County Fair.  In 2011 we are celebrating the 100th annual Carver County Fair.  We need your support in helping to make our fair the best fair in the State of Minnesota.  Sponsorship of our nonprofit organization is a very attractive option for many business owners.  We appreciate any level of support you can provide to our organization.  While we would really appreciate a large donation to the fair, we know that this is not possible for everyone.  The bulk of our donations come in the $100 to $300 levels.  Please feel free to call and discuss your sponsorship options.
