AT THE MINNEAPOLIS CAR SHOW.  We ran into Joan and Ray Jendro of Victoria and learned that their old car is about the same age as my old car, but things work pretty well so there's not a rush to [car] judgment.  ~Editor Sue

IMAGINATION FAIR AT VICTORIA ELEMENTARY.  Recently, Victoria Elementary School hosted their first ever Imagination Fair.  The local community of Victoria gathered to learn more about their students' interests and talents.  Students were encouraged to pick a topic that they wanted to learn more about and create a visual display that demonstrated what they learned.

Over 135 students voluntarily created projects that featured anything from magic shows to polishing rocks.  One frequently visited exhibit was from a second grader who made a display that was devoted to the video game, Minecraft, compete with a TV screen so students could actually play the game.

A parent of a 4th grader had this to say about the event:  "It is so wonderful to have an opportunity to get together at our school as a community and celebrate our children's creativity."  A huge thanks goes to Becky Janes, a 1st grade teacher at VES who developed and organized the event.

The school's showcase pairs well with Eastern Carver County School's mission of personalized learning, allowing students the opportunity to learn and explore what interests them the most.  As a 3rd grade student exclaimed, "It didn't seem like homework at all.  I worked hard on this project because I enjoyed doing something that interested me."
