To the Editor:

As I was reading the Gazette this morning, I happened to notice that there is no weather section at all.  I am not getting mad about it, but quite the opposite.  My name is Lucas Graunke and when I grow up I would like to be a climatologist.  And this gives me the perfect opportunity to write a climate overview of the past month in Victoria, Minnesota.

I am in the 7th grade at Chaska Middle School East, but don’t let my age fool you.  I can do anything that I put my mind to.  In the weather section, I could talk about what the past month has brought us and what the next month will bring.

I have around 20 books on weather and have read them all.  I am a very good typist and pick up on things fast.  I have wanted to write about the weather for as long as I can remember.  Please respond to me as fast as possible.

         Sincerely,

         Lucas Graunke

To the Editor:

Thanks for your newsy paper.  You know how to keep us up to date on many things.  Thanks for the 20 and 10 Years Ago columns.  My mother Catherine Hauwiller liked seeing her name in the Gazette.  Yes, 10 years have passed since my parents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  Ten years ago not too many people were getting to 65 years.  The pastor at Watertown never had a 65th before my parents.  It was extra special.  Thanks and God bless you.

To the Editor:

I found the fishhook before my husband Bill did.  It’s on page 8 in the St. Joe’s Boogie Blast music notes.  Thanks for an interesting paper.  I know what you mean, in your last editorial, by poorly made frames for our eyeglasses.

To the Editor:

Keep me on your mailing list.  By the way, March is the best month because I was born.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I found the fishhook on the St. Joseph School ad on the musical clef.  They should be quite thrilled that you used their ads to hide the fishhook two months in a row.

To the Editor:

Your editorial column on “Big Brother” and eyeglass prescriptions last month was absolutely brilliant.  Thanks always.

To the Editor:

Ethel Ausink, your Senior Citizens Reporter, is not kidding when she commented in March on the cheap junk that China shoves in our faces.  Last year I bought an oscillating fan and I paid $20 plus shipping.  It said “USA made.”  The company that distributed it is located in California, but it’s in fact made in China!

I got the fan in May and it worked fine for a month, but all at once it wouldn’t oscillate.  It would stay stuck and nobody could fix it.  I could see it was all plastic parts in the motor.  I called the company’s toll free number in California and they were going to charge me -- yes, charge me! -- ten bucks for a new fan.  It had a year warranty and I figured if I’m not entitled to a new one free, screw it.

Women’s underthings are made in Pakistan, Jamaica, China, and all over but not the USA.  The elastic has rubber bands woven inside and it breaks off after a few times of being in the dryer.  If you pull on the loose piece of broken rubber band in the elastic, it will loosen the stretch on the elastic, and when you are in your nightie, your bloomers are at half mast like a flag.

         Buyer beware!  Droopy drawers!
