Happy 80th Birthday, Morrie. Maurice Leuthner of Victoria will be 80 years old on April 1st, 2008, but he is no April fool! Morrie is hosting a celebration in honor of his milestone at the Lakeside Ballroom at Waconia on Friday, April 18th. Social hour is from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. with food after that and then dancing to the Jolly Ramblers. Morrie says, “See you there. Please, no gifts.”
Kayla Lindeman, daughter of Tim and Linda Lindeman of Victoria, took first on bars with a 9.1 at the Twin Cities Classic meet held in Bloomington. She also took 1st on floor with a 9.225 and 1st all around with 36.15. Kayla is at a level 9 at Classic Gymnastics. The team traveled to Dallas for the Kurt Thomas Invitation. The top four gymnasts went to finals recently where Kayla received a 9.575 on vault, 9.65 on bars, 9.625 on beam, and 9.575 on floor. Great job, Kayla. Love, Mom. Linda Lindeman Victoria, Minnesota

Tailgating in Florida. As our group of baseball fans can’t wait for the sound of “Play Ball!” in this area, we traveled to Fort Myers, Florida, in mid March to attend some Minnesota Twins Spring Training Games. One of the games we attended was Minnesota Day at the Twins Spring Training Site in For Myers. Minnesota Day was on Sunday, March 16th. It started with a tailgating party early in the morning prior to the game. In the large parking lot, many Minnesota snowbirds come to the park to meet other Minnesota residents. Tailgaters display signs with names of their Minnesota hometowns. Our group included Bob and JoAnn Schwartz from Chanhassen, Schpitz and Carmen Mueller from Hamburg, and Cindy Schardin and myself from Victoria. You may remember seeing them in some of the photos I sent to the Gazette from last year’s State Amateur Baseball Tourney in Hamburg. Other Victoria residents tailgating at the park included Steve and Dianne Smith. Seated (l-r): Cindy Schardin of Victoria, Carmen Mueller, JoAnn Schwartz. Standing: Bob Schwartz, Jerry Benneke of Victoria, and Schpitz Mueller. Jerry Benneke Victoria, Minnesota |
