To the Editor: Hi, Sue. It's me, Kyra, and I thought I would just write you a quick email. Things are going so well here at St. Ben's. Classes started on Wednesday and they're not easy. But this weekend it was nice b/c. I didn't have any distractions, with nothing to do, so I could sit and do four straight hours of homework and not be interrupted. I am making some friends, especially the girls who are on my floor. All of my teachers seem up to par. I think each one will have its own challenge. I miss my kitty, but that's about it. It's kind of lonely not having her sleep next to me every night. Oh, well. Talk to you soon. Love, Kyra Schindler, Student at St. Ben's St. Joseph, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Sorry it has taken so long to send in my subscription. Hope we will have summer return to us after getting a little taste of what lies ahead! Brrrr. Also found the fishhook on page 11 in Brown's Auto Wash ad. Took me quite a while to find it this time. Really had to hunt. Father Bob had a nice article about baseball. Being a former Chaska resident, I did attend a few games at their park. Several brothers were on the team. Mrs. Frank Schneider, Shakopee, Minnesota
To the Editor: Julia Naughton, my mom, fell in her apartment and ended up in the hospital. She had to give up her apartment so I'm enclosing her new address for the Gazette. Mom enjoys your paper so please change the address. She will be living in the nursing home from now on. Thanks, Sue. I missed your advertising deadline for the last Gazette, but I was so concerned about Mom. The doctor said that she would die but God had other plans. Bonnie Riegert, Eden Prairie, Minnesota
To the Editor: It was nice to see you at the store, Sue. It's always fun to hear your upbeat view of life and the excitement and contentment you find in you your life. Your smile and humor are priceless. I hope your financial stuff is not being done by some fancy financial operation and that you'll forgive this note on a check stub! Diane Bolles D.B. & Company, Excelsior, Minnesota
To the Editor: For my birthday, Harriet and I spent a couple days in western Wisconsin. I was surprised as we were going to the train station in Osceola, Wisconsin. There were Rick, Mary, Jim, Cathie, and Lisa. We all got on the train and headed eat. The train tracks were those of the Soo Line, which were laid down in the late 1800's from Minneapolis to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The reason for this line was that the flour interests in the Twin Cities felt that they were being charged too much for moving the flour out east through Chicago. This, of course, was the Line that Uncle Bob worked for. This train had a nice crew of volunteers and we had a super breakfast. The train was going backwards during the run out, and I got to stand on the back platform and chat with the conductor who was in charge of ringing the bell and blowing the whistle. At a bridge crossing the river, there was an osprey nest on the top of it. Further down, there was a flock of wild turkeys on the track that flew up just before the train got them. A bit further down, twin fauns bounced up and scampered away. Then a bluebird flew over us. It all made for a neat day. Suddenly the train stopped and the conductor told me that the engine was overheating and they had to cool it down. We then limped back to the station, stopping every once in a while. Wow! What a nice birthday present. Uncle Ron Holtmeier, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I have so enjoyed your newspaper! It combines the local news (with a flair) with advertising and important commentary. Very impressive. We have the signed contract for the new Rodgers organ at St. Victoria and will be meeting to look at the new church and possible placement of speakers. Thanks for sending me the Victoria Gazette. Barb the Organ Lady, via email
To the Editor: Thank you so much for the wonderful coverage for the Girl Scouts. I searched other troops in our service unit for Victoria girls and found five with major awards this year. I am attaching a brief article. I am trying to get the girls together for Cadette and Junior photos. My daughter is with a group performing at the Waconia Fair Youth Talent Show on Sunday. If they do well, I'll shoot you a picture and information. I will make it a habit to send you Deer Run neighborhood event photos from now on. The last three homes, one single and a condo, are being built here now! Our vacation was to circle Lake Superior, camping. Vicki Bont Victoria, Minnesota
