Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
I received your check for $10.  I was wondering what this is for.  Is it for find-ing the fishhook?  Just curious.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

To the Editor:
I sure do enjoy your paper.  I lived in Victoria from 1974 to 1978.  The fishhook is on the horse of the Carver County Fair ad.

Here's an e-mail of August 15th from Mary Holtmeier, our daughter in law who will be moving from New York to Minnesota toward the end of the month ...
"All our phones are cordless and therefore don't work when the power goes out.  We were just working away on our laptops, which have battery backup so didn't lose any work.
"Our power went out about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and we got it back around 4:30 or 5 this morning.  It was actually kind of cool.  All the neighbors were outside and visiting, kids were playing, people were barbecuing.  When we walked the dogs around 11 p.m., people were camped out on their front lawns, star gazing.  One house had a telescope out.  It was so dark, you could really see the stars.
"It took Elissa quite a while to get home.  She couldn't find a place to make a left turn, and no matter what you do, eventually you have to make a left turn to get into here.
"Anyway, all is back to normal, although they are asking people not to use air conditioning today, so it doesn't happen again.  I guess the power grid is still rather unstable.  As Elissa said, we had to have one last New York event before we leave."

To the Editor:
Hope you are having a wonderful summer.  This is certainly a summer of transition for us.  Not only did we sell our home in one week, but Waterbrooke's home is moving out of the Holy Family Catholic High School.
Waterbrooke's new home will be next door to Southwest Christian High School, 105 Peavey Road, right off County Road 41.  We will have our offices there as well.  Our first worship service there will be September 7th.  Come and join us some time.
Many of our people are from Vic-toria.  We believe God called us to start a church in Victoria, and we still own 13 acres on Lake Wasserman.  Unfortunately Holy Family needed their space, and there is not one other place in Victoria at this time where we could have hung our hat temporarily.
As soon as our money is raised, we will be building on Lake Wasserman.

To the Editor:
Enclosed is our check in the amount of $20 for the book PRINTS OF A PRIEST by Father Elstan Coghill and the mailing of it to Evelyn Schrempp.
We do so enjoy the Gazette, even though we lived in Victoria such a short time.  I have been tempted to show it the editor of our Edina paper to show them what a small town (I should not say "small town" anymore) paper looks like.
Thank you.

To the Editor:
The family of Greg Yanisch wishes to express deep appreciation to the many people who so generously helped our family in our time of loss.
We especially want to thank Father Bob for the spiritual support he gave Greg and his family, the people of St. Victoria who so freely gave of themselves, Jamie Moore for his help with music, those who prepared and served the food, and to all of you for your kind words, prayers, and support.
