To the Editor: A guy said to me, "How is your golf game?" I said, "Some shots I liked very much. Some shots I didn't like, and if God lets me out there, I hope it's the same way tomorrow. Another guy said to me, "What makes the Gazette such a great paper?" And I said, "Heck, that's easy. It's the lady that runs it." Ovid Northrup Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Did you know that yesterday, August 21st, was the feast of Saint Mary Sumner? She was the founder of the Mother's Union (1921). That's as close as I'll ever come to sainthood. Mary Sumner Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We had a fun time as usual seeing you again in Victoria, and we have a couple of pictures to send you that came out very well. We'll keep posted on Victoria and its residents through the Gazette before we come back for the next visit. Remember to go to the church office to ask about seeing all the eighth grade graduation pictures from the old St. Victoria School from 1927 to 1971. Joyce Heiland always knows where they are. Love, David and Margaret Kirsch Sacramento, California

To the Editor: Cash registers ringing up sales of school supplies are getting a workout this fall by local residents buying extra items to donate to Pencils and Pens for Friends, a school supplies drive con-ducted by the CAP Agency. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are buying school sup-plies and donating funds so children from low income families can have the required items on their school lists. With school only a few days away, the CAP Agency is collecting, sorting, and preparing to distribute school bags and supplies to students in Carver and Scott Counties. There are already 300 registered to receive supplies. What really helps us is when people donate money and we can go buy exactly what is needed. We're hoping more donations come in this week to help us meet the growing need in our community. The Community Services division conduct this drive is one of four divi-sions of the CAP Agency. Other divi-sions are Food and Nutrition Services, Housing and Transportation Services, and Children and Family SErvices. For more information, please call 952-496-2125 or visit its website.
