Seems the song was written for Nick Orsen and Jen Ellingson, our son and his bride who were married this past Satur-day, September 22nd, up north at Bemidji, Minnesota.

I don't want to be the kind to hesitate,
Be too shy, wait too late.
I don't care what they say other lovers do,
I just want to dance with you.

The weekend was beautiful, sunny and warm, temperature not too high and the breeze not too cool.  Perfect is the word that comes to mind.  When I saw Nick and Jen at the altar and, later, on the dance floor, they only had eyes for each other.
Our son left home about ten years ago, right after graduating from Saint John's University at Collegeville, and didn't return home to stay.  There were occasional home overnights, of course, for the holidays and other family gatherings in town or out of town, but the independ-ent young man had a job under his wings and the roof of a townhome in Maple Grove over his head before I even got his sheets changed at home here in Victoria.
Nick has always maintained close ties with the two friends who grew up with him here in the Parkside neighborhood at Schutz Lake.  As a matter of fact, both Matt Shaw and Rob Raiche, each already married with children, stood handsome and upright in the wedding party.  The three boys knew each other before kinder-garten, attended Chanhassen Elementary, Chaska Middle School, and graduated together from the Chaska High School.
It was only last year at this time that Nick met Jen through "It's Just Lunch," a dating service specifically designed for busy professionals.  Both well educated, articulate, and aware of God in their lives, they had a feeling at lunch that they should also have dinner together.

I gotta feeling that you have a heart like mine,
Sot let it show, let it shine.
If we have a chance to make one heart of two,
I just want to dance with you.

The first picture I took of Nick and Jen together was at our house on Christmas Eve, 2006, and it has remained posted on our frig along with other favorites.  I enjoyed watching them open presents and play games and hang out together.  The new young lady in our son's life was easy to be around, and I smiled inside when I caught them looking at each other at dinner and holding hands under the table.

I caught you lookin' at me when I looked at you,
Yes, I did, ain't that true?
You won't get embarrassed by the things I do,
I just want to dance with you.

We've got a Sunday family tradition at our house, and it's not a very healthy tradition if you're looking at things from the modern perspective of calories and exercise.  After we eat heartily upstairs, we go downstairs and watch a movie on our big screen TV.  Many times we fall asleep during the movie and that's part of the plan.  Sunday is a day of rest, dontcha know!  Anyway you look at it, the movie is not as important as getting comfortable.  The movie is not as important as a little shuteye when it creeps in upon us.

Oh the boys are playin' softly and girls are too,
So am I and so are you.
If this was a movie, we'd be right on cue,
I just want to dance with you.
