MORE VICTORIA NEWS FROM SEPTEMBER SERIOUS ABOUT FULL TIME FIELD HOUSE DIRECTOR *Dave Urbia reported September 13th that a job description for a full time Director at the Victoria Field House will be submitted for applicants, with a closing on November 2nd, and interviews and selection proposed for December. *Council called for a final public hearing to be held Thursday, October 25th, at 6:30 p.m. on the proposed assessment for the Wintergreen area draintile im-provements. On September 27th, Engineer Cara Geheren said project bids came in under the estimate. Assessments will go down to $1,743. *Council also called for a public hearing on the 2006 street, drainage, and utility improvements for Thursday, Octo-ber 25th, at 6:30 p.m. Assessments to the various neighbors range from $4,000 to $12,400. *Council approved a deadline exten-sion to June 30th, 2009, for Waterbrooke Fellowship to pave its parking lot. Said Pastor Bill Bonner, "It's about a $50,000 improvement so it's not an insignificant chunk for a small church." *Administrator Steve Sarvi reported that staff is trying to resolve the snowmo-bile issue in the downtown Victoria area before the snow flies. "We will have a recommendation at the next meeting," he said on September 27th. *Council approved an exempt gamb-ling permit for the Victoria Fire Relief Association to conduct a raffle for prizes at their annual Ice Fishing Contest sched-uled for February 3rd, 2008. *Council approved the hiring of Nykolai Rollings as a part time building supervisor at the Victoria Field House. *Council approved a $150 increase in the Service Availability Charge to $1,825 per SAC unit per connection. The SAC is a onetime fee imposed by the Metropoli-tan Council for new connections or in-creased volume discharged into the metro-politan wastewater system. The City of Victoria collects the SAC upon issuance of a building permit and makes remittance to the Met Council. *Council authorized a $50 increase to the benefit level of Victoria firefighters, from $1,950 to $2,000 per firefighter per year of service upon retirement. * Council approved the 2008 Con-tract for Police Services with Carver County in the amount of $279,284. This is an overall 10% increase from the 2007 contract. *Council approved the 2008 budget and joint powers agreement with the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commis-sion. Projected total revenue is $551,159. Projected total operating expenses are $511,106. This budget is not funded with tax dollars, but with franchise fees and re-turn on investments. *Council adopted a Computer Use Policy that makes users responsible for the integrity and security of information resources. It will be incorporated into the city employees' handbook. *Pete and Irene Kerber received per-mission for a minor subdivision at 78th Street to split the wetland from the single family home site and deed that wetland and stormwater pond to the city as part of the development of Madelyn Creek. *Asked Richard, "When is the old water tower coming down?" Replied Dave Urbia on September 13th, "Cara is working on that." *Stated Tim about the two men hired as interim directors at the Victoria Field House, "Ken and Harvey have done a yeoman's job trying to bring these ice contracts together. Positive things are happening with regard to ice." *Stated Richard, "The Park and Rec-reation Committee has really been active in the city. We're really fortunate to have these folks. They should be commended." *Mayor Thun reported that she has received a number of thank you messages from residents, especially in regard to the work of the Public Works Department and their assistance in cleanup in neighbor-hoods hard hit by the storm in August. *Mayor Thun reported that New Hwy 212 is scheduled to be completed to Hwy 41 in Chaska by November. *Council held the first reading of an ordinance that gives the city authority to bill property owners for clean-up costs of weeds, junk, pollution. * Council approved a prosecution contract whereby the Carver County Attorney's Office will continue to provide legal services for the city.
