9a) Like to be known for. Maybe after my term, folks might say, "You know, that Delaney guy did a great job." 9b) In four years I would look for-ward to getting more involved with gene-alogy, watching grandkids playing stuff, fishing, reading, gardening, going out to lunch and dinner with my wife Anne. 10) Favorite reads. Lately I have read Tom Brokaw's The Greatest Genera-tion, Vince Flynn's Executive Power, and John Grogan's Marley and Me. Oh, and piles and tons of government reports.

1a) Why attracted to this community? While on active duty our family would come to Carver County by way of Valley Fair for family vacations. We decided when we left military service that we would settle in Chaska. 1b) Roots. First fifteen years of my life were spent at my birthplace of Johns-town, Pennsylvania. At age 15 our family moved to Casper, Wyoming. 2a) Reason for running. Public ser-vice is a family tradition. It is expected that you will serve your community as a volunteer or elected official. The good people of Carver County make it a worthy endeavor. We also believe as a family that we owe it to our military men and women who sacrifice so much to protect our free-doms to do what we can to make our com-munities better, to vote in our elections, and to put yourself up for public office if you are so inclined. 2b) Payback. The feeling of gratifi-cation from making government work for the people. 3) Good candidate. I have worked as a member and now the Chair of the Car-ver County Planning Commission for nine years and four years as a city councilman. I understand the pressures of growth and development on our communities. I have experience working with open spaces, transportation infrastructure, schools, economic development and jobs, law enforcement, emergency and disaster services, water quality, and preserving wildlife habitats. 4) Government function. Providing smart timely county wide transportation infrastructure so that our communities can grow and develop in ways that protect the good quality of life in Carver County. County government needs to streamline the processes for projects that affect multi local government units. 5) Overstepping. I am unaware of where the county may be overstepping its bounds. However, I believe in as much local government control as possible and will work to preserve the best kind of government, one closest to the people. 6) County's direction. We are not serious about our transportation infra-structure. We need to get ahead of the traffic. This situation is the major cause of many of our other problems. 7) Next four years. Work for timely, cost effective, smart transportation infra-structure. 8) Vision. That we have good smart transportation, great multi use open spaces, and water quality second to none. 9a) Like to be known for. A Commis-sioner who promoted good smart trans-portation, great multi use open spaces, and water quality second to none, and who worked to make Carver County a better place to earn a living and raise families. 9b) Personal goals. After returning home, a high number of Vietnam veterans took their own lives. I will do my best to see that this does not happen to another generation of freedom fighters. I want to work to make sure these folks and their families have what is needed to move on and have good lives. We must welcome them back to our communities and let them know that what they did for us can never be repaid and will not be forgotten. 10) Favorite reads. "1776" by David McCullough, Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, John Adams by David McCullough, Plain Speaking: An Oral Biography of Harry S. Truman by Merle Miller, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris.
