*Centerpoint Energy presented a check for $1,044 to the Victoria Fire De-partment as part of an ongoing effort to support fire and police. The check will be used to purchase hand tools and small equipment. *A young man received permission to hunt on his grandfather's property near Laketown Road. *Said Terry Bishop regarding the new Victoria Elementary School, "It is stunning. It is a success. It is something Victoria ought to be proud of." *Terry and Lisa Bishop donated a shade tree, $300 value, to the City of Vic-toria Parks Donation program. *Denise Fedie donated a park bench and plaque to the City of Victoria at Lions Park with a value of $650, in memory of her sister Diane Schmid. *Cory and Julie Bach donated $100 to the Victoria Fire Department on behalf of the Applewood neighborhood to be used towards equipment. *Councilmembers approved several new membership programs to the Victoria Field House to maintain and also attract new membership. *Councilmembers approved the pur-chase of a new Dell server at a cost not to exceed $7,500 because the old server "has done its duty and needs to be put to rest." *Victoria's 500,000 gallon water tower at Holy Family Catholic High School was approved for power washing to remove dirt and mildew buildup at a cost of $3,000. Said Public Works Super-intendent Bruce Osborn, "This should be done every three to five years. The bot-tom of the tank gets moldy." *The city's smaller and older and very first water tower at Deer Run will be deconstructed whenever the current cell-provider finds a new home. Said Steve Sarvi, "Hopefully the tower will be gone in 2006." *A public hearing will be scheduled for October 13th for the second reading of an ordinance in regard to setting up fees that might be recuperated by the Victoria Fire Department for such things as false alarms and emergency calls. *Staff was authorized to purchase software, support, maintenance, installa-tion and training for Document Imaging, not to exceed $7,296 plus $2,000 in scan-ning, to benefit all city departments. *The storm in Victoria, and nearby areas, over Labor Day Weekend affected the property of resident Mike Shouldice, especially as related to increased water flow from the Plowshares development across his property into Schutz Lake. Because of 6 inches of rainfall in 24 hours, it was technically the 100-year storm.
