OTHER NEWS FROM SEPTEMBER HI, RICH GANNON! *Pulte Homes received permission to construct a development sign at both en-trances into the Greenway on the Park Subdivision located on the former McMahon property at the northwest inter-section of Bavaria Road and 86th Street. One sign is to be located at the intersec-tion of 86th Street and Gannon Way, and the second is at Bavaria Road and Ali Lane. Partners Scott Carlson and Rich Gannon have proposed 57 single family units for this property.
*The city is still working on the park trade with Three Rivers Park District, ex-pecting to receive land appraisals any day now. Said Planner Kaltsas, "Within the next two to three weeks we should have something to bring back to council." This is in regard to swapping approximately 20 city-owned acres on Lake Auburn for ap-proximately 20 park-owned acres on Hwy 5 east of the Dairy Queen. *Council approved the purchase of billing software for the Victoria Field House from Banyon Data Systems for product and service at an approximate cost of $530. According to Finance Director Jylan Johnson, approximately 9% of the city's utility accounts are set up with direct debit service. This additional license allows the Field House to direct debit monthly membership fees. *Council approved the purchase of a computer server for the Victoria Field House, not to exceed $3,000. This allows Victoria staff at the Field House to utilize the system at the same time that Minne-tonka Youth Hockey may be using it. It also provides an automatic backup system of scheduling information. *Free fitness classes through Decem-ber, 2004, will be authorized for anybody who signs up in October for membership -- either new or renewal -- to the Victoria Field House. *Council approved a service agree-ment with the Minnesota Municipal Utili-ties Association for safety training for city employees in 2005 at a contract cost of $10,270. Said Steve, "City employees need to be brought up to a certain stan-dard and then the city can cut chords with MMUA after that, with staff taking over the safety training."
