To the Editor:
The next Victoria Chamber of Com-merce sponsored event is the "Shop Victoria's Home-Based Business!"  We ask that the business owner be a Chamber member or Victoria resident working out of their home with no store-front.  We are looking for crafters, jewelry makers, floral designers, etc.  If you know of anyone, please have them call me at home at 952-443-3100.  The deadline for participants is October 31st.  The fee for a table will be between $25 and $35.
The Victoria Home-Based Business Expo will be held Saturday, November 16th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vic-toria Hall on Rose Street in downtown Victoria.  We are proud to put together home businesses all in one location for a Christmas Shopping Event.  People will be able to find gifts and vendors taking orders as well as selling inventory on the spot.  We are also lining up a local Boy Scout troop to do a fundraiser selling hotdogs, chips, cookies, and beverages.
Look for our ad in the Gazette!

To the Editor:
We support John Siegfried for re-election to the Carver County Board of Commissioners.  John has shown the ability to work with many different people with diverse opinions to find solutions to the issues facing Carver County residents.
John was born and raised on a family farm and understands the challenges far-mers face.  For many years he owned and operated a small business in Carver County.  This background allows him to relate well to the small business owner.
John has shown his interest in the residents of Victoria with his involvement in the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, his volunteering on projects such as Touch of Bavaria, and his presence at many Victoria City Council meetings.
We need a commissioner who listens and who is accessible to his constituents.  Please join us in supporting John Sieg-fried in his re-election to the Carver County Board of Commissioners.

To the Editor:
I was touched by the work of Mrs. Nan Emmer for MOCA, the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance, because she herself now is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and I am touched by her belief and trust in God.  I pray that the Lord may protect her.
Love and greetings,
Fr. Ferdinand Jennen, Hasselt, Belgium

To the Editor:
Apple Days are here again, and pumpkins and squash of all kinds, and ground cherries, and tomatoes.  Time for people of my generation to soap windows and tip trees and smash pumpkins, which I never did myself but saw it happen.  The most Halloween mischief I did was ring the doorbells.  Found your fishhook on page 21 in the apple of Leipold's ad.

In the next few weeks you will see Reliant Energy Minnegasco working in your neighborhood.  We will be replac-ing all or portions of our natural gas lines and meters to ensure your gas supply is delivered reliably and safely.  There is no charge to you for this work.  We will restore your property at the end of the project.  Please keep in mind that some properties may not require all of this work, and that work may be delayed due to inclement weather or other factors.  If you have questions, call 612-321-5055 or 612-369-4504 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and reference the project code as "Copper Services" when calling.

To the Editor:
Each year since 1987, October has been proclaimed National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  As we look back and celebrate the accomplishments the domestic violence movement has made over the past two decades, we feel the need to continue to push forward and move from awareness to action.
If you suspect family members or friends are being abused, ask if they are safe at home or in need of help, tell them no one deserves to be abused and it is not their fault, and tell them there are local organizations that offer free and confiden-tial support services.  Support them by offering a ride to a shelter or babysitting,, call the police if you hear or witness an assault in progress, contact us to further educate yourself, 952-873-4214.

To the Editor:
Ten years is too many.  My vote is for Delaney.
In many parts of our country, many communities have instituted term limits for their public officials -- and for very good reason!  Term limits protect the public and ensure a democratic flavor in our political leadership.  New and fresh ideas are brought forward, and an atmos-phere is developed that encourages co-operation, debate, and consensus building among those elected
and their constitu-ents.
Sadly, just the opposite happens when there are no term limits or, in the case of "our" county commissioner repre-sentative -- when no one challenges for the position.  The incumbent has held the office for ten years!
We are extremely fortunate to have an experienced, sharp, and consensus-building candidate for county commis-sioner in Gary Delaney.  Most recently he has served the City of Victoria on its Planning Commission and has been the recipient of many awards over the past 30 years -- awards for bringing out the best in others and placing service above self.  (Yes, Rotary International even made Gary their Paul Harris Fellow.)
Gary's record in public service also includes serving on the Minnetonka Economic Development Commission and serving as a member of the Minnesota Department of Tourism.  He has a reputa-tion for fairness and
