To the Editor: I would like to amend a typographical error that occurred in last month's story regarding my baseball team this year. In the story I was quoted as saying, "The good folks at the VAA do not allow me to take my son's friends and classmates and put them on my team." Nothing could be farther from the truth. This year, as has always been the tradition, we were allowed to pick kids who know each other or were in the same school. The new board did a good job of allowing anyone to play ball in Victoria, trying to keep a competitive balance and make it fun for all. Hopefully no harm was done and the VAA board of directors will continue to do the yeoman work of making youth baseball a model program for the south-west metro area. Tom Stumpf, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We, current staff of the Carver County Treasurer's Office, are asking the fine citizens of Carver County to elect Randal C. Eiden as the next Carver County Treasurer. Our years of experience in the Treas-urer's Office range from 6 months to 28+ years of service, and with our knowledge we feel Randy is most qualified to fulfill the obligations of this office, including the great investment program that current Treasurer Don Dahlke has implemented. Randy is a life-long resident of Carver County, leaving only to serve our country. He was in the Navy for eight years, including a tour of duty in Opera-tion Desert Storm. He is active in his community and church and is a dedicated family man. Join us on November 5th and vote for Randal C. Eiden. Respectfully submitted, Sandy Hakel, Chaska, MN Debbie Minnehan, Watertown, MN Marcia Tellers, Cologne
To the Editor: Wow! That's what we say about the Victoria Lions Club. Our neighborhood, Deer Run, has traditionally held our annual picnic (the Pig Roast) at Lions Community Park. We use the kitchen and picnic shelter and other facilities donated and built by the Victoria Lions. Our picnic, which was held on Sep-tember 15th, was a success with 120+ people attending and enjoying Shelter #1. Furthermore, Jeff Hartman, a Victoria Lion and Chamber of Commerce member, came to the rescue at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon with three tables for us to use as our buffet line. It's also noteworthy that when the Lions lost their meeting site and storage area due to the construction of the Vic-toria Field House in Diethelm Park, they created a solution by funding and building a handsome addition to Shelter #1 in Lions Community Park. They also kept the site safe, clean, and open to groups like ours and the family reunion held there the day before. So with all that in mind, the Deer Run residents and Social Committee want the Lions to know how much we appreciate the Victoria Lions and all they do for the city. Vicki Bont, Deer Run Social Committee, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue! It's been a long time since we both officed at the Creamery Build-ing. After 20 years at Valleyfair, I retired and love it. Saw your Mighty Mississippi pics on your website. We keep our boat in Red Wing and love it. Take care. Linnea Stromberg Wise, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Enjoyed your column on the lost car. That is shades of Father Elstan. He lost his car one time at the golf course also, so he came back the next day to find it. Bonnie Riegert, Eden Prairie, Minnesota
To the Editor: I'm writing this letter to endorse Jerry Bohn for mayor. Jerry has all the quali-ties it will take to lead the City of Vic-toria. He understands city financing in-side and out. He will not spend money foolishly and he keeps a keen eye on the budget. Jerry has a real feel for Victoria and its citizens. He will provide the service the people want without overspending. There will be difficult decisions ahead for Victoria, and it will take a strong mayor to lead the city. I believe with all my heart Jerry is the one. Please support Jerry Bohn. Dave Lindgren, Citizen and councilmember, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for your part in sponsor-ing the Touch of Bavaria event on Satur-day, September 21st. The certificate we won will be part of a fun evening. Thank you. Bill and Shirley Greenwood, Minnetonka, Minnesota
To the Editor: Missed your smiling face at Touch of Bavaria. I prefer brats, especially since my pork chop was rather tough and, while I have most of my teeth, it is no fun having to chew on a piece of meat that is not tender. Hope they have brats or a choice of brats and pork chops next year. Uncle Ron Holtmeier Victoria, Minnesota
EDITOR'S NOTE: I've heard that only the first chops, as the grill got cookin', were a little dry; the rest were excellent.
