More Oct. 2001 Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
I am a journalist living and working in St. Petersburg, Russian.  Now that the immediate horror is behind us, I thought you might be interested in a story about the terrorist attack from an overseas venue.
I am sending you an article and I hope you can use it.  I can also supply you with some pictures if you want them.  Please e-mail me and let me know.  If you publish it, I would ask to be paid your going rate for the article and photos.  I will let you know where to mail the check if you want to run it.
I am on my way to Tajikistan right now, and if you want up to date informa-tion, from something a bit more personal than a wire service, I can send you things.
Dave Francis, St. Petersburg, Russia

To the Editor:
I have seen a second time Christmas 2001.  I saw Downtown Redevelopment and Doing Deer Run and your wish, "By restful waters He leads me."  Happy Birthday, Nancy is very nice.  Now I know all your family.
I saw Summer's Lake Minnetonka with nice views and the seagulls on the posts without falling off, Uncle Don's funeral with Alice, your father's aunt, Christmas in July with all your family, your mother with her boys, your father, your parents with the seven kids, Speaker Dennis Hastert with "Thank you Mary Meuwissen for extending your parents' invitation to me."
I saw the Lady of Silver Lake with Father Bob who swam a smile, the cathedral in the pines, and "The very stone the builders rejected has become the head of the corner."  I saw Al Lehner is 60 with Father Bill direct from the mission in Japan.  All of this in Sue's Album on the Internet!
I found your fishhook in the C of Cabin Fever.
May God bless America.
Father Ferdinand Jennen, Hasselt, Belgium

To the Editor:
We have enjoyed your paper for sev-eral years.  We have a summer cabin on Pierson Lake and it's always nice to know what's going on.  As you do, we always enjoyed Father Coghill.  Our daughter and her family have now moved to Victoria, only a few weeks ago, and are liking it so much.  Please send them, Marnie and Pat Olson, a copy of the wonderful Gazette.  Thanks, Sue, for providing such a won-derful paper.
Mary Madson, Edina, Minnesota

To the Editor:
When I was a small girl about ten years old, back around 1933, I witnessed an event that I'll never forget.  I was visiting my dad, Hank Fossum, at his garage next to Schmitty's in Victoria.
On the way back home I saw a Model T drive off the bridge onto the railroad tracks.  As I saw in the last Gazette the photo of that bridge, it again came back to me.  I digress.
I ran back to Dad and reported to him what I saw.  He did not believe me.  I think he got help from somewhere and with his tow truck removed said Model T.  Does anyone know or recall who owned that car?  I can't remember at all if the driver was injured.
Anyway, I'm happy to see plans are underway for a nice new bridge.  It's hard for me to picture Victoria as it is now.  I have not seen it since 1992.
Excuse an old lady for reminiscing over old events from so long ago.  Hank and Pearl were my parents.  Sue, tell Germaine a fond hello from me, please.  Thank you.

To the Editor:
The threat of terrorism is a danger for all of us, for me and for you.  Until now, no political or military strategy can make a strong resistance at these acts of violence that have touched your country and threaten all countries.  The pain and sorrow of the victims and their relatives is also our pain.  We pray for them and for all the peace loving people of the USA.  We ask the assistance and the aid of our almighty and benevolent Lord.
"O God, the haughty have risen up against us, and the company of fierce men seek our life, nor do they set You before their eyes.  But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in kindness and fidelity.  Turn toward us and have pity on us.  Give your strength to your servants and save the children of Your faithful.  O God, by Your name, save us, and by Your might defend our cause."  (Ps. 85: 14 ...)
