More Oct. 2001 Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
I woke this day to another morning of being called by the church bells of the St. Victoria Catholic Church, such a blessed reminder and symbol of our wonderful spiritual heritage as Americans, the very reason our forefathers came to this country, for freedom to worship.
We as citizens of this lovely peaceful community of Victoria, Minnesota, have so much to thank God for.
It says in God's Word, the Bible, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."  I, for one, can certainly say, "Amen!' to that truth in my own heart.  We each are so blessed who live in Victoria, where we are still free to hear those "blessed bells" of the church calling us every morning, noon, and evening to take a moment and count our blessings, a moment in prayers of thanksgiving to the God who made us, and not we ourselves,
for the privileges around us, for our families and friends, and this special community of Victoria.
May each ringing of those blessed bells bring us together as we lift our hearts and mind for God's continuing blessing to us all.  Keep ringing those bells for blessings!
P.S.  And a very special thanks to you, Sue, and your staff for the great job you do month after month after month.
On with The Victoria Gazette!  Keep on keeping on.  Now that's good news.
Love ya,
Diana Raymond, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
I got your e-mail, and thanks for your thanks.  So glad the Lord got you and your husband safely back to Victoria from Philadelphia.  My husband Allen and I go to Waterbrooke Fellowship that meets every Sunday at 10 a.m. at that lovely new Holy Family High School.
We wish you and yours and many will especially join us for our speaker on September 16th that was chosen months ago.  She is a Christian woman named Hasnah Burdge.  She is a speaker from Faith Studies International who used to be of the Muslim faith.  Talk about God's timing.
From your journalistic background alone, I'm sure you would not want to miss her inspiring message at such a time as this.  Hope and pray for her and her message.
Love ya,

To the Editor:
Good evening.  We were trying to access an article on your website for The Victoria Gazette.  The columns that are listed in your Headlines click only show the first sentences and there was no way to read the rest of the columns.  Can you help?  Thanks.
Kari Ferrall, via e-mail

EDITOR'S NOTE:  The only way to gain access to all of the columns of all the writers is to get the paper copy of the paper.  Only the Feature Story, Letters to the Editor, Editorial, Quotes, and City Scoop can be found in their entirety on my website ... as well as tons of photos that
do not appear in the paper Gazette.

To the Editor:
I was able to obtain a paper.  We love reading the Gazette!

To the Editor:
Hi.  How are you?  Hope that every-thing is fine.  I wanted to tell you that we are really sorry about what happened in the U.S. at New York.  We are in shock.  We are terrified.  I don't know what to say, and for you it must be really hard because it's your country that has been attacked.
Yesterday, when I was watching the news, I was hoping it was all a movie.  I couldn't believe what was happening over there.  Also, we are very worried about my brother who is in Chicago.  I hope all gets back to normal so he can come back this week to Ecuador.  He was supposed to fly from Chicago to New York yester-day in the morning, because he wanted to see Manhattan, when he heard about the news.  He was like in shock.
I hope the U.S. government hunts the terrorists because they don't have respect for life or anything.  Those people are crazy and they should be in jail.  Over here I'm only watching CNN and CNBC because I want to see if there is any news about the terrorists.  I hope they go to jail.
Again, we are sorry about this attack to the U.S.  Please write me back and let me know if everything is fine with you.  Take care.
Love,
Xavier Alvarado, Cuenca, Ecuador

To the Editor:
For the past hour or so I have been smelling smoke.  At first I thought I left something on the stove.  I looked around.  Nothing in the house.  It was coming from outside my opened windows.  The sky is as black as I've never seen before.  Closed the windows, put on the air conditioning, hoping it will clear the air in the house.  I'm sending you a prayer.  Maybe it will help us get through this horrible, dreadful time.

To the Editor:
Can you believe what is going on?  Can we start a prayer chain?  Lord, I pray for our country right now, that even as this e-mail goes to all I have sent it to, that each of you would feel His presence and His comfort and that you would know that even in the chaos and the unknown, that
He is in control of each of our lives and that He loves us all.  We are all in so much shock, Lord, and our lives have been shaken, though we are not actually physically at the places that have been devastated.  Help us each to find comfort in You and help us to feel Your presence as we learn more and more details as the hours and days go.  Click here to continue.
