The Andrew Peterson Home is located on a homestead between Victoria and Waconia, in an area formerly known as Scandia.  Andrew Peter-son was born on October 20th, 1818, in the south-ern part of Sweden.  His father died in 1846 and in the spring of 1850 he emigrated to North Amer-ica, settling in Carver County after a four-year stint in Iowa.  He married Elsa Ingman in 1858 and had nine children, but no grandchildren.  He kept diaries during his life as a settler and a far-mer.  The diary contains over 14,000 entries maintained between 1855 and 1898.  Those diaries provided Vilhelm Moberg with the most important facts and inspiration for his emigration novels.

Grandpa's Family.  Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria proudly presented You Can't Take it With You, a three-act theatrical com-edy showcasing the humorous encoun-ter between a conservative family and the crazy household of Grandpa Martin Vanderhof.  Grandpa's family of idio-syncratic individuals were amusing with their energetic physical antics and they inspired with their wholehearted pursuit of happiness.  The play was held in October.
