Eric Ewald is a partner with one of his brothers in Ewald Consulting. Locat-ed in St. Paul, the company is involved with government relations, associate management, and public relations. Amy Ewald is an attorney who works primarily from home. On a side note, Eric's great grand-father Christopher is the fellow who came from Denmark and started Ewald Dairy in Minneapolis. "Then my grandfather owned it, and my dad worked there, and I'm only the fourth generation in the United States," he said. The beautiful Ewald home in the Allegheny Grove neighborhood of Victoria is warm and inviting and very much alive. Soon it will be replete with holiday gatherings and celebrations, including the annual Thanksgiving meal. Said Leif, "I hate turkey. I hate stuff-ing. I hate mashed potatoes and gravy. I love pumpkin pie!" Said Ava, "I love everything and especially the pumpkin pie." Eric and Amy are thankful for many things. Said Eric, "I am thankful for Amy and the kids, and also the rest of my family. I enjoy going pheasant scaring with my dad and my brothers. Others call it pheasant hunting, but we never hit 'em. We try though. Once a year we basically go on a real nice nature walk with a hunting license. I'm thankful for things like that." Said Amy, "I am thankful for Eric, the kids, and the large extended family into which I married. I'm thankful for Eric's parents, his four brothers and sister. They've really made me feel close. I'm thankful for my own parents. We get to visit them in Alabama a couple times a year. And I'm thankful for Martha." Martha is a Whippet, a small grey-hound, who "mainly sleeps and runs." Added Eric, "They are good family dogs." As the evening drew to a close, so did the energy of Leif and Ava. Bedtime beckoned. In the morning Leif would once again be unleashed unto the world. And Ava would be at his side. Was Ava ever in the hospital? "Yes," she replied. "Just once. To look."
