To the Editor: I thought your readers might like to know that Carver Park Reserve's 8.5 miles of paved trails re-opened on Satur-day, October 29th. The trails were widened from 8 to 10 feet. Trail maps are available at www.threeriversparkdistrict.org/parks/ maps/carver_summer.pdf. Thank you. Nancy Lauseng Three Rivers Park District
To the Editor: Nature shows itself on its finest in this season. We have nice sunny days, play of colours and rich colouring every-where, apples and pears, delicious fruit on trees. Nature gives us a lesson in gener-osity. Nature also teaches us, after work and cares, a time to rest, to recover. After a last tour-de-force of colours and fruit, she rests for a time, an always returning movement. Love and prayer, Father Ferdinand Jennen Hasselt, Belgium
To the Editor: Thank you so much for the $10 check. It was a welcome surprise. In answer to your accompanying question about the hurricane winds of Katrina and Rita in our area, we were hoping to get some rain but they missed us by about 30 to 40 miles southeast of Bolivar. Thank you for your concern. Margaret Priebe Bolivar, Missouri
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Surprised to see a picture of our granddaughter, Whitney Miller, at the Victoria Elementary School Open House. All are nice pictures. The fishhook is on the 'b" of Prints Publishing on page 37. RaNaye Miller Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. You continue to keep us all informed, inspired, and entertained. You are much appreciated. Keep up the wonderful work. Connie Borak Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Sorry I didn't have my camera with me yesterday. The Victoria Lions spon-sored a cross country ski event at Chaska Par 30 in conjunction with the Chaska team. It's an enormous event. Twenty high schools were there, along with the top runner in the state. Hundreds of people attended. I procured ten bushels of fresh Regent apples from the nearby orchard for the kids to eat after the run. Only 17 apples were leftover! I need to know the closing date for your November Gazette. Kurt Zuppke Victoria Lions President
To the Editor: The Carver County Sheriff's Moun-ed Patrol is always looking for new mem-bers. Do you have a horse and an interest in helping others? Give the Sheriff's De-partment a call at 952-361-1212 or Jayne Meyer at 952-253-5612. You do not need to live in Carver County. Training will be provided for you and your horse. Jayne Meyer Carver County Mounted Police
To the Editor: It turns out I received two responses from my letter in your September issue of the Gazette. If you recall, my mother, Phyllis (Hammerstrom) Lindberg, taught elementary school in Victoria from the fall of 1942 until the spring of 1946. One response was from Fred Plocher who is the son of one of the couples that Mother stayed with, and another response from Ron Holtmeier whose sister was a student of Mother's. Ron has placed me on his mailing list so I now receive Minnesota emails from him. I am preparing a hardcopy package of the email correspondence to send to mother. I plan to email Fred and Ron and encourage them to contact Mother. Ron pointed out that most of the kids in Victoria during that time (about 100) went to the Catholic school (I had been told that by Mother), and that there were only 20 children in the Victoria Public School. Peter Lindberg Scotts Valley, California
To the Editor: We are getting ready to break ground for the church, Bill spent all summer remodeling our new house in Deer Run, and I'm ready to hibernate for the winter! Meanwhile, we are off to Hungary again, November 17th-29th. I can hardly wait to see our orphans. God has given us a special relationship with them. They live in such a pagan, depressed, and op-pressed culture. We bring them the love of God. It's really something else to be used by God in such a way as this. Truly, it is humbling. If you would like to give to our min-istry to the Gypsy orphans, every cent goes to the ministry. When I get back, I would love to show you some pictures and tell you their stories. Maureen Bonner Waterbrooke Fellowship Victoria, Minnesota
