Letters November 2005 continued

To the Editor:
Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria is preparing to make international history.  We hope that you or a member of your staff is able to join us for the biggest event in our five-plus year history:  our formal affiliation with the Midwest Dis-trict of De La Salle Christian Brothers.
This affiliation will also put us in heightened partnership with the following Lasallian schools:  Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, DeLaSalle High School in St. Paul, St. Mary's University in Winona, San  Miguel Middle School in Minneapo-lis, and Totino-Grace High School in Fridley.
I am happy to prepare informational packets for you with complete informa-tion about the Lasallian Schools, Holy Family, and what this affiliation will mean to our students and community.
It is our hope that you will join us for this exciting milestone for our school, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and the Lasallian Schools.

I am a Victoria resident and the proud owner of a new travel agency, Silver Star Travel, LLC.  I am an independent con-tractor and will be working from my home right here in Victoria.  Silver Star Travel, LLC, is committed to offering the best vacation values and personalized ser-vice to help create lasting vacation mem-ories.  My goal is to save my clients valu-able time for other pursuits by leaving their travel planning and details to me.  Just pick your dream vacation and I'll help make it happen.
I would very much like to have my business listed in the Gazette's Victoria Business Directory page and also place a display ad in the November issue.  Could you tell me what your requirements are?  Thanks for your help.  Best regards.

To the Editor:
I am coordinating an event to benefit the CAP Agency which serves Scott, Carver, and Dakota Counties.  Currently I am trying to tell people about this free evening of entertainment that encourages cash or canned donations for the CAP Agency, and collect door prizes from local businesses.  Our hope is to bring communities together and encourage helping each other.  I am sure we have missed the Gazette deadline, but I am hoping you can help email a flyer to people in your address book.  The event - called Fall for Love: The Power of a Pumpkin" -- is Monday, October 24th.  I hope you will consider coming.

In response to your questions, I am the lead coach and CEO of the Midwest Basketball Academy.  And it is a small world.  I'm married to former Chaska resident Jane Tschimperle (CHS '84) and I'm the uncle of Victoria resident Lindsay Happ.  Thank you for the follow-up.
Jane and I live with four kids in Woodbury, and visit the southwest metro area often for family and sport events.

To the Editor:
It's a start!  Victoria Elementary School is teaching students the correct spelling and pronunciation of "Stieger."  Now if they pass it on to their parents and the City of Victoria, the street signs may be corrected.

To the Editor:
You may recall that a couple of months ago I sent you an email about the correct way to pronounce Krey, and I ended up that I would do the same thing for the name Tschimperle sometime.
This prompted a phone call to me from one of your friendly, frisky, female subscribers by the name of Lyla Klehr.  Her mother was a Tschimperle who had married Art Heutmaker whose farm was on Stieger Lake as was my Dad's farm.  I rode the school bus to Chaska with several of her siblings:  Betty, Marvin, and Harriet.  And, of course, I knew her dad from my working at the Bank and later her brother Vernon.
Several weeks ago, Harriet and I had lunch with Lyla in Chaska, which lasted over two hours.  I learned all about her family and especially about Marvin who is now in the Minnesota Soldiers Home on the Mississippi near Minnehaha Falls.  Marvin and I were about the same age and were in the same grade at Chaska High School.
Now, as you know, Tschimperle is correctly pronounced as Chimp purr lee.
One day many years ago, I was helping my dad in the Bank, doing some filing.  At that time almost everything was done by hand, and I was filing checks in a vertical file holder by alphabet before they were put in a batch for posting, which produced the monthly statements.
My dad asked if there were any checks for Florian Tschimperle and I looked under "C."  After a conversation with my dad, I learned the correct spell-ing of Tschimperle!!!
