"The Table is Set" continued

has a strong financial background and owned a successful busi-ness before his retirement -- both impor-tant qualities to be mayor.
Jerry understands that as Victoria grows, it must do so within a budget.  He will be fiscally responsible and will help guide the city to attract office, retail, and high density housing downtown to broad-en our tax base.
Jerry also has a reputation of being unemotional, fair, and reasonable.  We need the steady approach and common sense that Jerry will bring if he is elected mayor.  Please join me in voting for Jerry Bohn for Mayor of the City of Victoria on November 5th.

To the Editor:
Mary Hershberger Thun is running for the Victoria City Council.  I've known Mary for 40 years.  I'd like you to know her, too.
Mary is service-oriented, dedicated, and committed.  She is educated, know-ledgeable, and experienced.  She is per-sonable, collaborative, a good listener, and a good communicator.  She is organized, rational, reasonable, and ethical.  She is well-rounded, conscien-tious, and visonary.  Mary is a thinker, a researcher, and a "doer."  And Mary knows what is important and what isn't.
The City of Victoria would be very fortunate to have Mary Hershberger Thun's voice on the city council.  I know she would truly appreciate your vote.  Please vote for her on Tuesday, Nov. 5th.

To the Editor:
I have served with Mary Thun on the State Solid Waste Management Advisory Council and now serve with Mary on Carver County's Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
On committees, Mary is a concerned, involved, and diligent member.  She takes an issue or topic, studies it, and thinks about how to accomplish the objective.  She participates in meetings by contribut-ing new ideas.  She actively listens to all points of view and considers the long-term effect of decisions made.
Cast your vote for Mary on Tuesday, November 5th, and elect Mary L. Hersh-berger Thun to the Victoria City Council.  She has lived in Victoria for over five years and she has a wealth of experience that will serve us well.
Importantly, Mary will actively rep-resent us by considering all points of view and seek out ways to directly communi-cate with us.

To the Editor:
I am writing in response to the article in the October issue of The Victoria Gazette that reported the city council's decision to allow Tamarack Learning Center to remain in the Acorn House for the rest of the school year if parents of the children sign a release of liability and a waiver of indemnification.
My husband James and I sent the fol-lowing item to the council and the mayor along with our notarized signatures:
We are returning the signed and notarized release and indemnification agreement as requested, although we believe Tamarack Learning Center staff and families have been unjustly targeted.
The "safety concerns" of the Acorn House's close proximity to large earth-moving equipment, cranes, cement trucks, heavy construction traffic on Kochia Lane, and traffic from workers completing the project are no different than those due to the traffic and equipment that many Victoria residents have dealt with nearly around the clock for varying lengths of time over the past decade that we have lived at our address on Bavaria Road.
Yet, to our knowledge, signed and notarized releases and indemnification agreements are not required of others.  Residents understand what is being done and assume the responsibility for their family members' safety.  That is reason-able.
We are being asked to believe that the danger posed around the Acorn House for the few hours of class time per week is substantially different than that posed in our own Victoria neighborhoods -- many of which are under construction -- for far longer stretches of time.
We are new to Tamarack Learning Center and our daughter Kirsten really enjoys attending.  We would very much appreciate it if the city council's focus on the preschool's presence in the Acorn House, which I believe borders on harassment, would cease.
From my brief exposure to the work-ings of the city council at a meeting I attended in September, I have determined that my vote for the next mayor of Vic-toria will be for Jerry Bohn.  Mr. Bohn was level headed in his desire to ameliorate the conditions around the Acorn House for the sake of the preschool already in session.
As Mr. Bohn pointed out, to have an alternative space licensed for the preschool at this point would take some time, so safety precautions would need to be made in the meantime, regardless -- during which time the parking lot would be nearly completed, so moving the preschool at all seemed pointless and unnecessary.
My exposure to the workings of the city council has been enlightening.  I'm voting for Jerry Bohn.

To the Editor:
We write this letter to express our support and enthusiasm for Victoria City Council candidate Todd Corbo.
This upcoming election is a critical time for the City of Victoria.  Victoria has grown extensively in the past two years because of its beauty, proximity to larger cities, and small town appeal.  Victoria's newer resident base is largely made up of younger families drawn to a community that is friendly, proud, and rich in tradi-tions.
Victoria's explosive population growth has placed burdens on the city for
