To the Editor:
The Legion met in Victoria on October 18th and decided to continue to pursue more members and to meet on a regular basis and be a presence in Vic-toria.  We need members and we need people to step forward and take leadership positions.  We had ten people at the last meeting and are financially sound.  If any Victoria readers of the Gazette belong to a Post in another area, please consider transferring to the Victoria Post, and if you are not a member and are eligible, please give us a call and join:  Call Chuck Schmidt, 952-474-8387; Dennis Polzin, 952-442-4337; or me at 952-442-2323.

We are happy to see that Gayle Degler is running for school board.  We believe he has the leadership and dedica-tion to serve.  Gayle will work hard and do a fine job.

To the Editor:
We believe we have an outstanding candidate for District #112 School Board and are encouraging others to look at the qualifications of Gayle Degler of Chan-hassen.
Gayle is a former teacher and is presently a farmer/business man whose wife is also in teaching.  He has proven his leadership ability by being elected chairman of the Carver County Planning Commission where he served effectively for nine years.
As an involved parent, Gayle has spent many years in 4H leadership and parent-teacher groups in both private and public schools.  He has also been an active leader in his church.
Please join us in electing Gayle Degler, a proven leader in service to gov-ernment, education, and his church.
Al and Mary Klingelhutz, Chanhassen, Minnesota

To the Editor:
We're very excited that Gayle Degler is running for the District #112 School Board.  We have known Gayle and his family for the past 18 years.  In our view, Gayle has the qualities we need on the school board:  integrity, good judgment, an open mind, and strength of purpose.
His willingness to serve our commu-nity would be an asset for the residents, students, and the administration.  Please join us in supporting Gayle for the #112 School Board.

To the Editor:
From the moment I heard Laurie Gauer was running for school board, I knew she was the right choice for our district.  I have known Laurie for five years, in school settings, and through Girl Scouts.  She has never failed to both impress and inspire me.  Those who know her will tell you she has many talents as a leader, but I would like to point out two that I feel are especially important.  First, it would be her ability to keep a group on task.  She wants to see that time is used wisely.  She is wonderful at keeping simple decisions simple and the big decisions from getting too emotional.
Second, Laurie has an amazing ability to see all sides of a situation.  She will listen to each person and point out the positive aspects of everyone's argument.  Laurie Gauer has an unending supply of energy and devotion to her projects.  I strongly urge the people of District #112 to elect her to our school board.
Delane and Alan Wetterlin, Chaska, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Laurie Gauer will be a great addition to the District #112 School Board.  She is a proficient communicator, follows through on commitments, and is a con-cerned and visionary citizen.  I have known her for over 12 years through church and Girl Scout leadership involve-ment.  During that time she has success-fuly spearheaded many projects.  Laurie gets the "big picture."  She embraces with contagious energy, persis-tence, and fairness.  She is a true consen-sus builder.  I believe her leadership will be greatly needed in the challenges that face our school district.
Nancy Everson, Chaska, Minnesota

To the Editor:
I am thrilled that Laurie Gauer is running for the District #112 School Board.  The six years that I have known her she has dedicated her time and skills to the issues of education and children.  Most recently, Laurie has served as co-chair of the 1999 successful school refer-endum and also co-chair for the elemen-tary task force last year.
Laurie is a capable and skilled leader who will be a wise and competent mem-ber of our school board.
Terre Kemble, Chanhassen, Minnesota

To the Editor:
We cannot think of anyone better qualified to serve on the District #112 School Board than Michele Helgen.  I have watched her dedicate countless hours of time over the years to improve the quality of education in our schools.
What has been most impressive is her leadership role in taking on the tough and sometimes thankless tasks.  From serving as chair on numerous citizen advisory committees, co-chairing the last referen-dum campaign to spearheading our lobby-ing effort for the past eight years at the Legislature to make sure our district gets its fair share of funding, Michele has been effective at everything she has been involved in.  After being appointed to fill a vacan-cy on the school board this past summer, she is running as a candidate in the up-coming election. While she was not on the board when the decision was made to switch bus companies, she has been actively involved in proposing solutions to make things run more smoothly.  Michele is exactly the kind of board member we need in these trying times.  We urge your support and vote for her on November 6th.
Beth and Gary Lehman, Chanhassen, Minnesota.
