To the Editor:
I would like to thank Mayor Mary Meuwissen and the rest of the Victoria city councilmembers for their countless hours of workshop and regular council meetings.  It must be like having a full time second job!
The redevelopment of the Victoria commercial area has been talked about for more than 25 years.  But it was only in the last couple years or so, under the leadership of Mayor Mary, that most of the properties have now been acquired by the city.  Are we closer to a grocery store?  The hardest part still remains to be accomplished.  It still will take a lot of actual doing.
In the last couple of years, six new businesses were created.  Many new residential developments are in place and underway.  A second water system is in the works, along with the new tower already in place.  We must have added at least five miles or more.
The Eklo City Park is coming along just fine, and the new Holy Family Catholic High School is com-pleted.  I was there today for its dedication.  Wow!  You must see it!
Mayor Mary Meuwissen is a signi-ficant part of all this.  Her dedication, foresights, and planning should remain a part of Victoria.  Her continuation as as mayor of Victoria is a MUST!  She has my full support.

"Leafing" through the pages of the October Gazette, I was "hooked" on the foliage at the bottom of page 24.  Thar she be, betwix the leaves that were once green.
The Chaska Legion Post and Auxiliary #57 wishes to thank everyone who chowed down with us on October 19th.  Thank to the kitchen crew, goodie baker, ticket takers, and the movers and shakers of the dining help.  There were all sorts of busy hands to make a busy day easier.  We thank everyone until January, 2001.

The family of Diane Schmid would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our family and friends for their support in the time of our loss.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Father Conran Schneider and Deacon Al Schroeder for a moving and inspirational service and to Jamie Moore and Sue Orsen for the beautiful and touching music.  We would also like to thank the women and men of the St. Victoria parish for preparing and serving the wonderful luncheon.
Thanks also to the Chanhassen Fire Department and Waconia paramedics for the special care given to Diane in her time of need.  We would also like to thank the Johnson family of the Johnson Funeral home for all its time, comfort, and support.
We greatly appreciate all the help, food, memorials, and flowers given in Diane's name.  Diane will be missed and truly remembered by all those who loved her.

To the Editor:
My wife and I have had the privilege of being residents of the City of Victoria for the past seven years.  During that time we have witnessed the progress and positive development in our community.  Our selection of Victoria, as our home, has been rewarded time and time again.
Obviously, credit for our progress must go to the interest and commitment of our citizens.  However, the direction and leadership have come from Mayor Mary Meuwissen and the City Council.
This past year I served as a mem-ber of the Downtown Development Committee and saw firsthand Mayor Mary Meuwissen's foresight, her insight and leadership skills that have provided much of the vision and new direction for Victoria.
Please join me in voting on November 7th for Mary Meuwissen to continue the progress of these past few years.
Sincerely, Jerry Olson, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
Just a note to make special mention of Mike and Mary Meuwissen and their very generous donation on the night of A Touch of Bavaria in Victoria.  They personally covered the cost so the resi-dents of Community Living were able to come to the event and enjoy the music and dinner.  One of the residents remarked excitedly to a member of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, "We didn't find out until just the night before that we were going to the Touch of Bavaria and it is so much fun."  This is just one example of Mary and Mike's thoughtfulness and caring for other people.

To the Editor:
Thank you for the copies of Prints of a Priest and Voices Are Calling.  They provide quiet laughs and images to remember.  I enjoyed meeting you, and our conversation, albeit brief.  My very best to you.  Your products are an asset to the community and beyond.
