Team 4 Our Girls.  Thirteen local ladies are teaming up with thousands of others to participate in the Twin Cities Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk (a total of 60 miles) on August 18th, 19th, and 20th.  The walk supports the research, education, and medical developments to fight breast cancer. 
Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $2,200.  Team 4 Girls participated in the Victoria Community Expo on April 22nd with a fundraising bake and used book sale.  Thank you to all who made a purchase or a donation towards the cause.
You might mark your calendars for a huge rummage sale that our team is hosting on Thursday, May 18th, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.; Friday, May 19th, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 20th, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Victoria Watermark neighborhood (8,500 Kelzer Pond Drive).  All proceeds will support the team in contributing to the Susan G. Koman breast cancer fight.

Congratulations, Viola Jeurissen.  The St. Victoria Catholic Aid Council held its awards night on Saturday, April 8th, at Elstan Hall.  There were just about 100 people present.  The Community Service Award went to Viola Jeurissen of Victoria.  Viola has been recognized for her willingness to lend a helping hand at St. Victoria.  She prays the rosary at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Waconia.  She sews for missions, helps clean the church, works at funeral lunches, helps with the rummage sale, and assists with the Red Cross Bloodmobile.  The award was presented by Norbert Derhaag, pictured above, an officer of the St. Victoria Catholic Aid.
Our guest speaker from the Catholic Aid office was Kathleen Moriarity, director of marketing and fraternalism.  She is a lifelong resident of St. Paul with longstanding interests in music, theater, and travel.
Those who have been members of Catholic Aid for 50 years were recognized.  They include Judith Aretz, Betty Robling, Kenneth Schmieg, Mary Schmieg, Darlene Williams, Stanley Caspers, Gerald Diethelm, Alice English, Kathleen Garry, James Hauwiller, Judi Kellerman, Betty Pass, Claire Robling, Joanne Schmitz, George St. Martin, Edward Vanderlinde Jr., and Charles Weber.

Best Creativity.  Enclosed is a picture of me at the April 22nd-23rd Artists of Minnesota Stillwater Spring Show.  I won the Best Creativity Award in the Transparent Watercolor Category, voted on by the member artists.  This piece is called "Cornucopia Jim."
I also had a piece, "On Mt. Valhalla," accepted into the juried Minnesota Watercolor Society's Spring Show currently hanging at the Colonial Church of Edina off Tracy Avenue.  The show will hang until mid May with the awards night being May 5th
