"Letters to the Editor" Continued.

To the Editor:
Have you ever experienced health problems after smelling lawn chemical or insecticide fumes.  Fumes from lawn chemicals and insecticides are a hidden poisoning.  They hurt people.
Pesticides enter the body through the skin, eyes, ingestion via food and water, and inhalation.  They can trigger rashes, headaches, depression, dizziness, hoarse-ness, burning eyes, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, sudden fatigue, and numerous other health problems.
Occasionally, entire neighborhoods are evacuated to avoid the health risk from exposure to the chemical fumes from a accidental spill in the area.  If chemical spill fumes can cause an entire neighbor-hood to evacuate, why would it be safe for people in these same neighborhoods to expose themselves to these same types of fumes emanating from lawn chemicals and insecticides?
Please use non-toxic approaches to bug and weed control this spring and summer.

Hi, Sue.  Hope you are having a beautiful spring and that all is well with you and your family.  How about lunch at the Arboretum when you return from your trip to Europe?  Please call me at your convenience.  The ads for KleinBank featuring special rates are on their way.  More information later.  Thanks.

To the Editor:
Last month's feature story in the Gazette on the USS George Washington CVN-73) was a joy to read.  It was so fun to review all of the statistics and facts.
I checked my logbook and found that 43 of my 215 carrier arrested landings (traps) are on the George Washington (43 catapults, too.  It's usually a bad sign if one doesn't have the same number of cats and traps).
The GW played a large part in border security immediately after 9/11.  I was on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) at the time (we actually pulled out of port early in the morning of 9/11 for a training exer-cise), and half of my airwing was sent to the GW to man the ship in order to patrol the eastern border of the United States.
We were always a little jealous of the DV's (Distinguished Visitors) when they came on board because we all knew they were going home in just a few days!
Could you print an announcement for me?  Jon and I had a baby girl, Lily Ann Singelton, on March 20th.  She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 ½ inches long.  Proud grandparents and Ralph and Janet Olinger of Victoria, Raymond and Ruby Singleton of Louisville, KY, and Joe and Pam Peterman of Mary Esther, FL.
Thanks.

To the Editor:
It saddens me to hear that another longtime Victoria business is closing its doors - C.H. Carpenter Lumber.
I read the "2006 Victoria City Council Goals."  One of their goals is to "Improve Customer Service Culture."  However, there was no mention of how the City of Victoria is going to help retain its current retail businesses or a plan to attract new retail businesses such as grocery store, drug store, senior housing, or an industrial area.
I emailed my concerns to one of the Victoria councilmembers and the final response to me from that councilmember was, "If those things are important to you, then you should move to Waconia or Chanhassen."  These things are important to me.
