Letters-May'04-continued

To the Editor:
We are having a career day at Jona-than Elementary School in Chaska.  I apologize for the short notice, but I was wondering if you would be interested in coming to our school to talk to our stu-dents about the newspaper business -- putting a paper together, reporting, etcetera.
Our Career Day is Friday, April 30th, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  I would love to give you more information if you are in-terested and available to come to our school.  Thank you.

To the Editor:
This is a hectic time for me, juggling two jobs and school.  May I just brag that I have two A's in Geography of Minneso-ta and Introduction to Business, a B in Cultural Anthropology, and an ugly C in Computer Applications.  Finals are rolling around so soon and I have the Holy Family Prom this Saturday and all the details I'm trying to sort out for gradu-ation and the Chaska Prom is, well, extremely time consuming right now.
I know it's only Wednesday the 21st and your deadline is next Monday, but I just have so much going on this week I know I wouldn't have the time and patience, let alone the sanity, to compile a good enough article for the Gazette.
I'm not trying to make excuses for not having an article on time but, oh, it's a lot of work right now!  But I will have an exceptional article for you next month by this time for sure!  Hope you're having a lovely European vacation.  Love you.

To the Editor:
Hi, friends.  Paul, Emma, Sarah, and I will be walking around Lake Calhoun next weekend to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis in honor of our friend Colin Chapman, Shelly and Bryon Chapman's son.  Colin will be three this spring.
Our goal is to raise $150 for each of us, or $600 total.  We'd love to raise much more.  If you could find it in your heart (and your budget) to send us a dona-tion, we would sure appreciate it.  Any amount you can give will help.
Make checks payable to CFF.  Right now Colin has a 40% chance to live until his 18th birthday.  We'd love to help find a cure.  You can mail a check to our home.  Your donation is tax deductible.  Your check is your receipt.  Thank you so much.

My father, Eckhart Tolzman, has moved to another Mankato address.  At 99 years of age, Dad still enjoys receiving your newspaper.  Thank you.

To the Editor:
My niece is moving to Victoria and is looking for a house to lease.  Do you have property information in your paper?  If not, would you please help me by letting me know where we can look from home?  Thank you in advance for your time.

To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  I was at the Carver County Historical Society yesterday and noticed that an exhibit regarding the dairy indus-try in Carver County was being prepared.  As you are aware, we once had a cream-ery in Victoria.
I asked if they had a butter carton from the Victoria Creamery and was told no.  So, I am wondering if some of your readers might have one and would be willing to donate it to the historical society.
As an aside, my grandfather and father were members of the creamery cooperative with the number of 47.  Until the 1940's, my dad took the milk cans to the creamery himself.  Then Elmer Klatt started to haul the milk cans.  Of course, this was much before bulk milk tanks.
I also recall that Pearl Fossum, step-mother of Hank and Myrene, worked at the creamery packaging butter, and once she mentioned that an inspector from the State of Minnesota was there while she was weighing the butter to make sure at least a pound was put in each carton.  She stated that if she had known she was being checked out, she would have been so very nervous.  Pearl, of course, did impress the inspector by doing a great job!

To the Editor:
I am sending $10 for renewal of the Gazette plus $10 for last year's subscrip-tion.  I grew up in Victoria and went to the Victoria Catholic School for eight years so still know some of the residents.  But it is growing very fast, with many new names and faces.  Enjoy reading your paper very much.  Keep up the good job.
