"Victoria Moments" continued

Sneak Peak.

Concept plans have been drawn for the new Mount Olivet Church - West Campus worship center in Victoria.  If the pledge goal is met, construction will begin in May and the first worship services could be held this coming Christmas.  The church is expected to cost $4 million.
Mount Olivet Church must purchase the land from Mount Olivet Rolling Acres because they are two separately incorporated nonprofits.  The building committee is working with the architectural team to ensure all details are addressed.  The building exterior will have a "touch from home" with the use of the same Mankato stone used at the Minneapolis Campus of Mount Olivet.
The new sanctuary will seat approximately 275 and is easily expandable when the time comes.  The new building will be Mount Olivet's fourth worship facility on water -- in this case, overlooking Schutz Lake in Victoria.

The Runner.

Hello, Sue.  I thought I would up-date Victoria on "the runner," Nick Schneider.  Nick is now a junior at Duke University.  In addition to being selected Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track this week, Nick has been involved in setting four school records at Duke in indoor and outdoor track so far during his career at Duke.  He just broke the indoor school record for the 3,000-meter with a time of 8:14.  He has been the anchor in three different relay events that have set school records.  These include the 4 X 800 indoor, the Distance Medley Relay indoor, and the 4 X 800 outdoor.
Nick also has the second fastest time in the indoor mile at 4:07 and has run a 4.01 outdoor mile.  He has also been honored with "All East Honors" five times so far.
No Duke athlete in any sport has ever received more than six All East Honors through their four years at Duke.  Nick will surpass this milestone this year and still has another year to go.  Anyone wanting to follow Nick can find his results at www.goduke.com.  Thanks very much.
