"Letters" March '04 continued

To the Editor:
I want you to know how much I enjoy reading the Victoria Gazette.  Victoria has grown from the village of 400 or so population when I was growing up.
I look for the names of my contem-poraries, relatives, and friends who might remember with me fishing in the Church Lake; fishing, picnicing, and swimming at Uncle Math's lake (Bavaria); summer band concerts when the band wagon was pulled into the middle of Main Street and the audience in their cars tooted their approval.  And how exciting it was to have a baseball team.
My now scattered family enjoyed our summer vacations in Victoria.  And I have plans to visit this summer.  (Is Mike Wart-man my grandnephew?)
Sincerely,
Julia Notermann Diffily

I am the facilitator of the Carver County Health Partnership Mental Health Action Team.  Our team is working to promote mental well-being among Carver County children.  One of our strategies is to get our messages out through local media.
June Henning, a beloved team mem-ber, suggested you may be interested in printing some of our team's articles.  Various members of our team have written articles on bullying, infant mental health, positive parenting and connected-ness, with more forthcoming.  They are each between 450 and 850 words.
I've attached a couple for your re-view.  Please let me know if you are in-terested.  Thanks.
In response to your question, the Wixons from Ghent are my husband his family!  Bill, Senior, is still in Marshall.  Dan Wixon is in Bloomington, Dave is in Apple Valley, and we (Bill, Jr.) are in Plymouth.  It certainly is a small world.  I didn't think anybody else had ever heard of Ghent.

To the Editor:
We have a new channel, Channel 12, which is now our Public Access TV Channel.  All of our community programs can be seen on Mediacom Channel 12.
We have also added a new part time position this year.  This position is to focus on even more production opportun-ities.  This position was filled by Tina Wilson who I'm sure you will meet throughout the upcoming months as events are happening.  As you know I've always been looking for events and now I'm looking for even more.
If you have any events coming up that you are aware of, please feel free to let us know.  We feel that the LMCC is a great way to promote your city and the great things that it does.
We are not only available to video footage of an event but we'll also help promote the event using our community bulletin board.  And if it's an event that doesn't warrant video tape, we will announce the event on the bulletin board to allow citizens throughout our lake area communities the ability to see what's coming up around them.

To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  I wanted you to know that Excelsior Bay Books now stocks Nimrod Chronicles, and it is available at The Book Case in Wayzata, the chain stores, or online at www.nimrodchronicles.com.  I imagine the March issue of the Gazette is safely put to bed by now.  I'll look for it the next time I'm in town.  Thanks, buddy.  I owe you one.

To the Editor:
Hello.  I just wanted to make you aware of a press release from State Sen-ator Julianne Ortman (R-Chanhassen) that is currently posted on the U.S. Depart-ment of Justice's Information Technology Initiatives website.  The subject is a recent open house hosted by Senator Ortman at the Capitol to demonstrate CriMNet to legislators and others.  The link is http://it.ojp.gov/index.jsp.  Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.  Thanks.
