"My Deepest Sympathy." The heart was ripped right out of my friend Kathy Kraemer last week when some people in her neighborhood poisoned her dog Audrey Louise. Those killers are cannibals. No, they're worse than cannibals, for they didn't eat the heart. They ripped it out of Kathy's chest and threw it away, leaving it bloody and pumping slowly on its way to dead stillness. The tears roll out of my own eyes, too, and I will forever see Kathy's face contort to such great sadness, and I can see the hollowness in the space where her heart used to beat. Audrey Louise was also loved by Kathy's husband Mike and their sons Nicholas, Lance, and Jonathan. People who intentionally cause such grief and sorrow, such anguish, are very, very cruel. They give humanity an ugly name. There is absolutely no excuse for it, none whatsoever. I can't fathom the evil that would allow someone to place a bowl of sweet, poisonous antifreeze before an animal, especially a beloved pet. I am both sickened and saddened. The ongoing torture of my friend Kathy has got to stop NOW. --Editor Sue!
