Spring Friars.  Three Victoria gals were visiting Father Elstan Coghill, left, down in Springfield, Illinois, about ten days ago when Providence intervened and sent Father Bernardine Hahn in our direction from St. Louis, Missouri.  'Twas a fun reunion all around.  Fr. E., 83, and Fr. B., 90, are the only two surviving Franciscans who served at St. Victoria.  That's Mary Moore on the left and Julianne Wartman on the right.  The gal with the black hair is not the editor.  She stopped by to say hi and I don't know her name.  ~Sue

Still Kicking in Kingston.  Hi, Sue.  I can't believe that just yesterday I received the March issue of the Gazette.  I have had the April issue for a couple weeks.  Anyway, that's why subscription check is so late getting to you.  Sorry.
It is amazing to Dick and me how Victoria has grown.  What a gor-geous town.  Guess you'd have to live in rural southeastern Tennessee to understand what a treasure you have culturally and the truly wonderful quality of life you have in Victoria.  Do I sound envious?  You betcha!  Here's a picture taken of us last Sunday.

Celebrating 25 Years.  Hi, Sue.  I thought you might like to see Victoria City Councilmember Kim Roden and Victoria Parks Committee Member Jerry Moja enjoying their 25-year wedding anniversary at the Minnetonka Country Club on April 25th, 2006.  The first two pictures are just before we played golf on our special day.  The next two are of the resident fox who keeps the goose population in check on the course.  The final two are just before dinner.  Enjoy the spring.

G'day from Sydney Harbor.  Here's a photo of Michelle and me from Australia.  We are having a blast.  Miss you all.  We'll have plenty of pictures to show you when we get back.  Beaches.  Kangaroos.  Wine Country.  The land down under has it all.  We'll talk to you soon about getting the group together for a Wednesday evening.

Spirit of Hospitality.  Bonnie Carlson of Victoria started an Awards Ceremony ten years ago to recognize people in the service industry.  The event is called the Bloomington Diamond Service Awards and it salutes outstanding frontline customer service employees in the tourism, hospitality, and retail industries.  This year, 2006, Bonnie Carlson, president and CEO of the Bloom-ington Convention and Visitors Bureau, received the Tenth Annual Spirit of Hospitality Award.  This award embodies the spirit of commitment to the success and future of Minnesota and Blooming-ton as world-class visitor destinations.
Believe me, I have never seen such excitement and pride as I did on the faces of waitresses, drivers, hostesses, bed-makers, dish-washers, etcetera, as they went on stage to be recognized and acknowledged as "the best" in their category.  Awards were pre-sented in 17 categories.
