To the Editor:
Illegal immigration creates a multi-tude of problems.
It hurts citizens, threatening their security and inviting abuse of laws.  It hurts immigrants, frustrating those who follow the system and wait to become citizens.  It hurts our economy and burdens our education and social welfare programs.
We must support efforts that strength-en the borders, oppose amnesty, and hold companies accountable if they knowingly hire illegal immigrants.  All of these posi-tions are held by Representative Mark Kennedy.
Mark Kennedy also supports the Bor-der Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act, as well as the Norwood Amendment, which clarifies the authority of state and local law enforce-ment to apprehend illegal aliens.
And Mark Kennedy supports the REAL ID Act that requires states to obtain proof of legal residence before issuing licenses.  It also requires that the visa expiration date be listed on the front of the license.
Mark said he believes a country that cannot control its borders cannot control its destiny.  He's right.  His positions recognize we are a nation of immigrants, that we do and should welcome immigra-tion, legally.

To the Editor:
You surely have clever ideas in placing the fishhook every month.  Found it on page 8 in the MVT ad.
Enjoy all your articles, especially "Seems Like Yesterday" where Father Elstan appears quite often.  In the 1950's when I lived in Chaska, he was an assistant at Guardian Angels.  Very nice of St. Victoria to use his name, "Elstan Hall."  Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers who are reading your paper, including Father Elstan.

Boy Scout Pack 589 will be marching in the Chaska Memorial Day Parade.  Also, many thanks to David Savage for his many years of service with Pack 589.

To the Editor:
Thank you for continuing to support our stamps club's project of supplying stamps to the kids in local schools for these many years.  So far this year we have visited schools in Mound, Deep-haven, and at St. Therese in Deephaven.  I thought you would like to read a letter we received from a fourth grader at Hilltop School in Mound:
"Thank you a lot for coming.  I appreciate your visit and all the stuff you had to haul over here.  I think we all really enjoyed it a lot.  My friend Emily found a stamp for breast cancer.  So I really liked that stamp a lot.  Keeping doing stamp shows because they'll have fun.  Thanks a lot.  Your pal, Bobbi Shavlik."
The letter was addressed to Mr. Bill Anderson, President of the Lake Minne-tonka Stamp Club.  Bobbi's mom died of breast cancer at the start of this year.

To the Editor:
We just received a phone call from our granddaughter, Tanya Holtmeier, oldest daughter of Rick and Mary.  She and her best friend Kieran Cornely be-came engaged to be married yesterday.  No wedding date has been set.  Kieran is a submariner currently stationed on a sub-marine out of the State of Washington.  He has orders to be stationed in Hawaii later this year.

To the Editor:
I'm sorry I could not make the Victoria City Council meeting last night on this pending dog park.  Can you tell me what was discussed, the anticipated next steps, etc.?  Do we really expect an addi-tional 100 cars to travel Park Drive every day?  This is an extraordinary number of vehicles for Park Drive to accommodate.
I'm very worried what this might mean to our neighborhood and its safety.  What more can Steve and I do to help in the fight against this park?  Let us know.

To the Editor:
As residents of Lilac Lane, we would have to agree that we are not in favor of a dog park being established near the access to the Three Rivers District Park entrance.  We purchased our property in 1997 because we loved the solitude of this area.  A dog park will only draw more traffic to Park Drive and bring in individuals who may not have the same respect for our neighborhood and will continue to build the anxiety levels we all have on the inter-section of Highway 5 and Park Drive.
I urge the Victoria City Council to hear the concerns of the residents of the Parkside neighborhood and push that the dog park not be established.  Consider the option to put the dog park on the west side of County Road 11.  There are minimal to zero residents living along that road, and the Park District can still accomplish what they wish to accomplish without the nega-tive implications to the Parkside neighbor-hood.
