Five Victoria Lions were presented the Melvin Jones award at the May 25th gathering in Victoria.  (L-r): Steve Reus, LeRoy Miller, Kurt Zuppke accepting on behalf of Tim Sebenaler, Ray Notermann, and Wilfred Plocher accepting on behalf of the late Jim Fink.
Melvin Jones is the founder of Lions International.  The fellowship award is the foundation's highest honor and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for helping the less fortunate.

A "Great" Archer.
This is our great granddaughter, Taylor Whitney, who lives in LaMesa, California, and is involved with baseball and archery and Girl Scouts.  Her mommy and daddy are Amy and Andy Whitney.  Her grandparents are Jill and Dave Holtmeier who live in Tuscon, Arizona.  Boo hoo, we do not get to see her very often.
Another granddaughter, Elissa Holtmeier, daughter of Mary and Rick Holtmeier who live near Mayer, MN, is finishing up her senior year at Kent State in Ohio.   Part of the requirement for her graduation is working at a newspaper, and she will be working as a page designer/copy editor for the Dothan Eagle in Dothan, Alabama.  Elissa's maternal grandparents are Caroline Lundgren of Waconia and the late Robert Lundgren.

Frank's Fortieth.  I'm sending along the program from our celebration of the 40th anniversary of ordination of Pastor Frank Jones at the Lake Auburn Moravian Church here in Victoria, and also a photo from the occasion.  The worship service was held on Sunday, May 1st
"Some people come into our hearts and quickly go ..
Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts
And we are never, ever the same."
As the program states, the core values of Lake Auburn Moravian Church are Discipleship (reflecting God's goodness and Christ's love in our lives in relationship to each other); Wide Open Door (sharing our home with community as a caring Christian family); Each Individual (celebrating and nurturing the gifts each person brings to our Christian family); Ecumenical Initiative and Involvement (recognizing our responsibility to reach out to the larger community); Children and Youth (providing opportunities for growth and including them in the larger life of the organization).

Scouts at Carver Park.  I'm including photos from the annual Spring Family Campout held last week by Cub Scout Pack 337, which includes boys from Victoria, Chanhassen, and Chaska.  More than 50 scouts and their families attended the two-day event held at Carver Park Reserve in Victoria.  Cub Scouts and their siblings showed off the walking sticks they created during activities.  Scout Leader James Dockendorf helped Scouts with the projects.  If you need any further information, please contact me.  Thank you in advance for your consideration of our submission.

Congratulations, Ken and Marge.  This year's recipients of the Community Service Award from the St. Victoria Catholic Aid Council were Ken and Marge Diethelm of Victoria.  Marge is director of pastoral care as well as a member of the Community Life Committee.  She visits the sick and elderly and brings them Communion.  She welcomes new parishioners and is a Eucharistic Minister.  She also attends Mass at Good Samaritan each month and is a weekly sacristan.
Together they clean the church offices and Father Bob's house, as well as take care of repairs and lights.  They also lock the church and parish center after hours.  Kenny takes care of the cemetery and snow removal.  The keep Father Bob's dog when he is away from St. Victoria, and they do hospitality for the parish administrator.
