To the Editor: Just catching up on some reading and wanted to say that I enjoyed the lead article in the May Gazette, "Flowers of the Rarest." It was a piece of writing at your lyrical best, while filling in pieces of information on Victoria of which many of us attached to that fair city may not have been aware. Wishing you and the folks at the new/old St. Victoria well. One of these Sundays (I get a few off now and then in my new position), I'm going to have to stop by to observe the church's long-time organist in action! Sorry to read in the Gazette about the possible passing of Touch of Bavaria. A sign of the changing times. Pastor Arnold Lemke Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Here is a copy of the School District 112 suggested summer reading list. This list was compiled by media specialists from the elementary through high school buildings. I am interested in any com-ments or suggestions you might have. Thank you. Anne Jones Chanhassen Elementary School Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Today I was at St. John's and read some of my poetry to the second graders. I wrote a poem just for them and gave each one an autographed copy. I had a good time and so did they. I love you second graders, Your smiles are always bright. You eat your veggies every day, And say your prayers at night. You never watch TV When there's homework to do. And then when you are done You go to ask your mom What else is there for you? Your rooms are always spotless From the ceiling to the floor And you never pout or run and hide When asked to do a chore. You are God's chosen people, Angels every inch. I have no doubt each one of you Could be a princess Or a prince. Jesse Coghill Jordan, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the pervasive illegal parking in the business area of Victoria, especially at the Post Office. People park in the street to run into the Post office or to use the drop-off outside. I have seen drivers park diagonally across the driving lane, and today I saw someone approach the Post Office from the wrong direction, park in a parking spot (still headed in the wrong direction), then later turn around in the street (in spite of quite a bit of traffic there at the time), taking up both lanes in doing so. In addition, UPS vehicles and other delivery trucks are often parked in the street, even when there are several park-ing spaces available. Law-abiding drivers have no other option but to wait for these illegally parked vehicles to move, since it is illegal to cross the double yellow line to get around them. It is astounding that so many people are either inexcusably ignorant of the law or blatantly disrespectful of it. Hopefully the City Council or Town Cop will address this situation.
