We were cruising around on Lake Minnetonka for two glorious hours on Memorial Day Monday, under a pretty blue sky that was decorated along the edges with puffy white frosting. It was the first time I ever remember that the three-day weekend was not consumed by dampness and dreariness. I kept an eye on a fisherman's red and white bobber as it danced with the boat waves, hoping to see it disappear and then reappear with a big prize for the fisherman. The bobber remained afloat. We filled the tank up with gas - it's over $3/gallon on the lake - then bobbed to a bay and ate some sandwiches. Ordinary food acquires extraordinary flavor when the presentation is made on Lake Minnetonka. I'm hooked on Lake Minnetonka but I'm also hooked on the Victoria Gazette so we dawdled on home as duty called, despite all the blue in the sky, so I could finish up the day where I belonged, in my office tying up tons of loose ends. I also hid the fishhook just for you! I think it's too easy to find this time, but you deserve a little treat once in a little while, nicht wahrt? If you find it, drop a line telling of its location and sinker in the mail to Box 387, Victoria, MN 55386. Marie Otten of Waconia got her name pulled from the minnow bucket last week and she will receive $10 from the Gazette. Yes, the fishhook was hidden on the leaf of the tomato plant on page 8 of the May issue. Congratulations, Marie! And now I shall soon be cruising on over to the press in Hutchinson, not in a luxury liner but an old red rusty pickup truck, perhaps under a pretty blue sky.
