The Shape of Things to Come. The shape of the new St. Victoria Catholic Church is now evident on the Victoria landscape as one travels Victoria Drive between the bar and the golf course. It is being constructed immediately in back of the old church building, toward Church Lake. So far the two church buildings have not been physically connected. There has been hopeful but tentative talk that the new church could be open for Mass this fall of 2004 or perhaps this Christmas of 2004. Designed with a theater-in-the-round plan, the seating for up to 1,200 people encircles an open area where the priest, altar servers, readers, lectors, and others perform their various duties. At this time rough carpentry work on the old Parish Center continues, and mechanical and plumbing rough-ins for the basement continues. The basement of the new church, which is to consist partly of classrooms and a choir practice room, will be built into Church Hill on one end, with a walkout toward Church Lake on the other end.

Mount Olivet Church-West Campus, located on Rolling Acres Road in Victoria, celebrated the groundbreaking for a new sanctuary on Sunday, May 16th. It was a glorious Sunday morning as the congregation walked up the hill following services for the ceremony. The new sanctuary will seat between 250 and 300 worshippers. The lower level will have Sunday Church School rooms and nursery. Both levels will overlook Schutz Lake with all-glass fronts. The church is expected to be completed for Christmas of this year, 2004. This summer Mount Olivet Church-West Campus will continue worshipping in the gymnasium on Mount Olivet Rolling Acres property with a service at 9:30 a.m. Next fall services will be held at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. with Sunday Church School at both services. The church is affiliated with Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. If you would like more information, please call Pastor Ken Kotzer at 952-443-5072. Thank you, Sue, for granting Mount Olivet Church-West Campus some coverage. Ann Labree Mount Olivet Churh-West Campus Victoria, Minnesota
